It's jackasses like this that are responsible for making the public think Dak is demand $40M per season from the Cowboys. It's fake news.
They just keep pounding this dead horse. For the last time. DAK OR HIS AGENT ISNT ASKING FOR 40 MILLION. He will sign for 35 and people are stil gonna be tripping unti mahomes gets 40+, then we will be happy.

I am tired of this.

Cut Prescott or give him the FT.
He is no franchise QB. And thats why you dont want to bind your faith on him for the next several years.

Instead trade him and sign Brady. With those 2 first rounders we can draft our franchise QB and bring him along and still Brady will bring us home at least 1 Lombardy in the next 2 years.

Gotta love people like you. On one hand, Dak is not a franchise QB and you don't want to tie your franchise to him...on the other hand, we will get 2 first rounders for him.

People like you...

I don't believe Dak's new contract will be agreed by both parties to being around $40 mil/season. It very likely will be less, probably between $35 - $37 / year.

"After months of back-and-forth that included the Cowboys submitting multiple offers to Prescott, including one that tap danced around the $35 million per year mark -- sources tell CBS Sports -- the two sides are now engaged in driven discussions that could see the two-time Pro Bowler finally agree to terms before mid-March rolls around." - Patrik Walker/CBS Sportswriter

So, Whitlock is likely off his rocker once again scaring everyone with his gibberish stating Dak is dead-set on demanding no less than $40 million/year.
He is a known Dak hater and I don't listen to anything he has to say.

Good lord... Some people on this forum are simply delusional. Trade Dak for 2 first round picks? Ok, I'm on board... Which team is offering the 2? First, any team that desperately needs a QB is probably already picking in the top 5-7 of the draft. So... Why the hell would they trade away 2 first rounders for a QB whose agent is wanting him paid among elites? Second, any team who is picking low enough to be able to give away 2 first rounders, is probably happy with the QB they have, and certainly doesn't want to trade 2 first rounders for a QB threatening to hold out if tagged. Then we have the group saying, trade up into the top 3 and get a QB . Ok, with what draft capital? I know, let's mortgage the future for a QB that might not even pan out. The most practical approach is to try and come to an agreement with Dak, keep the deal short like Dak wants, give yourself an escape clause, draft a QB to mentor while you have Dak, or bring in a veteran FA. If the new QB or FA works out better, trade Dak next year to a team willing to take on his existing contract when the new CBA goes into effect.

You've kinda answered your own question. You tag Dak because no other team will offer up the money plus two 1s for Dak. If you do that, you essentially take a great deal of leverage away from Dak and France. Yes, Dak could hold out for a season or just miss camp and sit out the first 4 games but that only eats away at his leverage even more and opens the door for the Cowboys to actually bring in an FA QB who might be able to shine in this Offense. Does that help Dak? All the while, it also increases the chance the team drafts a young QB as well. I mean, to me Dak and his agent will come to the conclusion that 33\34 with great guaranteed money for 5 years is not such a bad deal. JMO

What's interesting is the difference in signing bonus for the last 3 notable QB's signed.

Wentz: 16.Xmil SB, 32mil AAV
Goff: 25mil SB, 33.5mil AAV
Wilson: 65mil SB, 35mil AAV

Wonder if part of the holdup is the signing bonus...

You don't know that. Dak was asked point blank just yesterday and he didn't answer one way or the other. Those who say he turned down 40 mil don't know that for a fact either. Nobody knows exactly what the number was TBH.

I don't know if his teammates will turn on him if he gets $40 million, but I am pretty sure the fans will turn on him and the first time he throws one of those passes that's nowhere near a wide open receiver, the fans will boo him out of Texas. As for his worth, I think under $30 million is low balling him and if the Cowboys already offered him $33 million as reported there is no way they can take that back now.

I also don't think Dak actually admitted to asking for $40 million. Dak is not stupid. He is not going to put a number out there. He wants the Cowboys to keep coming back with offers. This is classic car salesman technique. The salesman always has a number in mind, but he is not going to tell you. He wants you to keep making him offers and eventually you will make an offer higher than what he really wants.

Honestly, what Dak is doing is not good for the team. He is forcing the Cowboys hand at the expense of team unity. I believe every player is entitled to get what they can, but always negotiate in good faith. I do not get the impression Dak is negotiating in good faith. As others have said, make him an offer and if he doesn't take it tell him he will be franchised in 2020. Then start thinking about getting a new QB and competition for Dak. The reason he can play hardball is because there is no one behind him.

Dak has never won anything in the NFL and you don't know which games he's going to show up to. The nerve of holding out because we aren't offering over $33 million.
