cherry picking the seasons he didnt lead wont help.

Yea, showing the past two seasons his ranking in dropped passes is cherry picking.

I would shown more but most sites only show 2018 and 19.

The only time he led the league in drops was his rookie year, with 18 in 2015.

What you were possibly thinking of was drop rate, which was 4th over the span of 2015 to 2017(3 seasons). Led the league in 15 and 17 in drop rate %.

Since joining the Cowboys, he has not had that bad case of drops compared to his Raider days.

Okay, so what i meant is Drop Rate Percentage .

Thank You for the correction .

“Cooper led the league in drops (18) and drop rate (20.0 percent) in his rookie season (2015), but then seemed to get past the issue in 2016, dropping only four passes. In 2017, Cooper again led the league in drop rate (17.2 percent). Not only are these numbers bad, but they’re historically bad. Since 2007, there have only been three players to see at least 100 targets and post a drop rate of 17 percent or worse: Braylon Edwards (2007 and 2008), Greg Little (2011) and Cooper (2015 and 2017).”

Cooper ranks 22nd in the league in catch rate .

So i don't know why some here see him as an elite WR .

Why not tag Jones and try and trade him? There's clearly a market for him. Sign Dak, franchise Cooper, and transition Jones and then see how it plays out.

Personally, considering free agency and the draft, I think Cooper is much easier to replace and be successful right away than is Jones. The main reason CBs are more valued than WRs in the draft, etc. is because they are more difficult to find.

agreed 100%.

cooper is much easier to replace , thats why there is much less market demand .

I'm okay if both walk.

Let's keep throwing money at the trenches and both matter a little less.

In Dallas we are always trying to recreate the 90s and we love to uses phrases like the triplets and then we cry about our defense all year and blame our franchise QBs lack of ability to carry the team on things like defense after we over pay them..

It’s just what we do here.

We didn’t learn our lesson after Romo’s contract and Daks contract will be no different.

No team is trying to recreate the 90s because it's not the 90s.

This.

Cooper has proven he can be a difference-maker. Jones has not.

Anyway, until FA begins, no one knows if Jones is affordable, or not. Maybe everyone else believes the price would be too high for a CB with no playmaking skills.

In the old offense, Cooper had proven he can change the outcome of a game. Let's see what he can do in MM's offense. Sign him first after Dak. Take a chance the market does not price the Cowboys out of contention for Jones, and Quinn, as well.

Based off what? How do you know Jones isn't one of the main reasons our defense has been ranked top 10-15 the past couple seasons? With Cooper we went 10-6 and 8-8, and it certainly wasn't our defense being the reason we lost many games.

He led the league twice in drops in his career, and he had a few balls this year that could have been caught - but I'm guessing they put those on Dak.

I would like to make it work where i can keep both. They are both elite in their position, why wouldn't we want both? We got plenty of things that needs to be fixed.

I'm giving the money to Cooper. He's 25, is more talented than Byron, has great chemistry with Dak and we spent a 1st on him. We're set at the receiver position.

Byron has been a good solid CB but I'm not paying him top 5 money.

Jones may be the most consistent player, but wouldn't a different corner who forced turnovers actually be more valuable? You know, give our offense a shorter field or possibly get a defensive touchdown?

Really? o_O You want film?

Edit: Oh, and last year...everyone sucked except for L.P.. Everyone gets a reluctant pass, including Cooper.

I can see a scenario where they both walk and a scenario where they both stay. Before this year i would have leaned heavily with cooper. The only reason that i would give Byron the edge now is because I feel like Awuzi sucks so bad you cant let him go.

I just have too many memories of Jones getting beat on 3rd down but he isn't the only one.Let Philly overpay and let Denver overpay.

listening on the fan today I heard a scenario where the cowboys let them both go they signed Quinn and Chris Jones in FA picked up one of the Lamb,Ruggs or Juedy whichever fell and then went heavy defense

I'm asking you what Cooper has done to elevate us. Everyone points to 2018, like the reason for that wasn't our O-Line performing better in the run game. Cooper had 2 big games down that stretch, and ghosted the final 4 games. One game we got shut out in. So again, it's not as though our offense was dominating. In 2019 our biggest positives was the fact we got our running game going and our defense held offenses from scoring.

This season, with Cooper, he ghosted, had bad drops, and had some phantom injury that got him on the sideline in the most important game of the season. All we managed with him was 8-8. He didn't elevate our offense.
