Put Dak on the market so he and everybody else can see what kind of value feedback you get now that teams see he wants to be overpaid and not according to market value.
I find it interesting that the Transition Tag is brought out into the open...

Overpaid in this market would be 40M. I would bet the deal ends up at 38M.

The real problem now is that this number won't be agreed upon until camp. Deadlines and all, per Stephen. And that means Dak won't be ready for the season with a new system, and year one of the deal is a waste.

The problem with this line of thought is that it presupposes that the only reason McCarthy comes to Dallas is because he's sold on Dak. Well, if you don't have a job and you are looking for a job, you say what your prospective employer wants to hear. I mean, I don't know for sure but how many teams were beating McCarthy's door down? I have no idea but I don't remember him being the hot ticket HC. Jerry hired him because he's sold on his successful track record with HOF caliber QBs. That's why Jerry brought him here, he has a track record and he has a Super Bowl, that's why he's here. But that doesn't mean that McCarthy is 100% on board with Dak or that Dak can run his offense. That's just dumb. I mean, he might be able to but there is no guarantee of that. McCarthy is now the head coach. He has a contract. Now, I don't know what the details are but you figure, Garrett was making 30 mil on his deal so it's very likely that at minimum, it's at least that. He has full control of all Football decisions on the field so if he comes in and decides Dak is not the guy, he can make that call. Now, Jerry can fire him but he's still on the hook for whatever is in the contract. That's hard money in McCarthy's pocket and exactly hwo poorly would that reflect on McCarthy? He gets hired on to fix Dallas, he gets fired the minute he goes against Jerry and how does that not help him in the long run. That would be the narrative at play if it came down to it. McCarthy would have another job in a year and he'd be that much richer.

I don't agree with this guys line of thought. I think Jerry wants Dak to be the guy but the idea that Dak is a given because McCarthy believes him to be is hogwash IMO. That's not how you win as a Coach. You make everybody prove it every year.

https://www.si.com/nfl/cowboys/news/jerrys-in-season-question-to-his-cowboys-staff-is-dak-our-guy

Jones, during the course of the 2019 season, found himself quizzing his football people in double-checking just how right the organization is in believing that Prescott merits becoming the highest-paid player in franchise history, per a report from former Cowboys scout Bryan Broaddus on 105.3 The Fan.

"Is this our guy?' reported Broaddus on Wednesday on "Shan & RJ'' as the former Cowboys scout described a key inside-The-Star staff meeting question Jones would often pose.

Fast-forwarding today, Broaddus projected the questions forward.

Said Broaddus: "How serious are they behind closed doors? Is there some apprehension? ... How dug in is Dak's camp? Are the Cowboys trying to re-set the market (or) do it our way? ...

I know some Egals fans are with Wentz. They paid him too fast instead of waiting like the Cowboys did. Wentz had one 13-3 season (Superbowl season '17) and bam, huge contract to follow. He's been awful since and has yet to complete an entire season. Overrated & Over paid.

What's mind boggling? Goff one Superbowl appearance & Wentz one Superbowl championship. Dak zilch. All 3 from same draft class. o_O

Steven always drags negotiations out unless a player is accepting of a friendly deal from the beginning.
"Deadlines make deals"

Tagging Dak won't make things better unless he bombs and they get rid of him because his price goes nowhere, but up from here.
And probably up significantly and we will be pissing and moaning all about it like we did and do with DLaw.

You think Dak plays under a tag? No way. All a tag will do is prevent him from hitting the open market. It won't get him into a cowboy uniform. The fact is that unless Jerry can land Brady or Rivers or Birdgewater, Dak has ALL the leverage for 2020. Thats where having a GM with no foresight gets us.

If you want to make it QB simple, okay.
And even that is not getting into details.

I never made a claim that he plays under a tag, or not.
I said if you tag him there is no better solution than to pay him even more unless he bombs.
Lose/lose, if you ask me.

Let 'em all walk.
Dak isn't a playmaker.
Byron isn't a playmaker.
Cooper is a part-time playmaker.
Zeke is no longer a playmaker.
DLaw isn't a playmaker.

GUT THIS TEAM!
Like the way you've found a healthy means of channeling your feelings.

Only kidding, of course.

I've often wondered what it's like to live in Seattle with all that rain.
I live in a desert.

I live in Vancouver where we get a few inches more than Seattle. It can be a nightmare. Temperate climate but 45 inches of rain a year, most from October through April so it is really gross. Nothing worse than 5 celcius in December (42 degrees for you guys) and cold wet rain. It goes right through you. Now in fairness, we also get 2000 hours of sun a year given our really long days 16 hours of sun in June and July

Interesting weather to endure. And I do understand Celsius and the Metric system!
I know... hard to believe.

What QB hasn't played under a tag? I don't know where this no way business comes from
