I don't care how many turnovers he has - he's a lock down corner.

Nice, nebulous term, significant of nothing. Jones plays one side of the field, he doesn't "lock down" any receiver.

Awuzie and Lewis struggle against #2 and #3 WRs, you think they'll magically get better covering #1 receivers?

Nope, but unlike you I don't think a guy allergic to the football is "magically" going to improve. Oh and I'm not committing $15 million a year or more for Awuzie or Lewis either for the record.

Cowboys fans are not a bright bunch.

They celebrated paying Zeke big money.
And now they're fine with letting a Pro Bowl corner leave.
only one of the two players you're referring to is top 3 at their position based on career numbers.

You dont pay people based on past career numbers.

In terms of importance to a team, it goes QB, pass rusher, left tackle, #1 corner. Running back is way down on the list.

Not only that but Byron was a higher rated corner than Zeke a running back in 2019.

Double whammy paying a guy whose position is less important and is a worse player.

Is that because he can't or because he wasn't allowed to travel? I think he could shut down top receivers.

Not a single player from this defense is irreplaceable. Byron included. The defense was absolutely terrible. Turnovers drastically increase your chance for wins. I’ll take a rookie who can create turnovers on rookie contract over paying Byron 15million per year.
Allowing TDs drastically increases your chances of losing.

Everyone always says crap like this but there are 31 other teams in the league constantly going after proven talent like Talib, the Cowboys haven't really brought in a big name free agent since the 90's and Talib is getting old
Talib isn’t the top corner on the market, he’s not going to have 14 teams fighting for his services. He went on Colin Cowherd’s show and listed the 3-4 teams he would want to finish his career playing for, one of those was his hometown Cowboys.

Also, just cause 31 other teams exist doesn’t mean people can’t make reasonable suggestions on FA. The FO doesn’t go pay Fa’s top dollar, but they have shown the proclivity to sign and trade for guys who are bargains. Talib is 36 and coming off a rib injury, he’s the definition of a bargain.

The 'gain' would be getting another team to do something dumb in free agency. Maybe Amari Cooper is, in fact, the Broncos target? Get Dallas to choose Jones vs Cooper and then your chances of getting your guy have increased.

I''l ask you, what do they gain by letting their actual intentions be made public ahead of free agency?
Maybe making Byron feel wanted?

Who said I'm comfortable with our DTs? What do they have to do with Byron Jones. The guy has been a shut down corner with dog crap DTs
Because you cannot sign everyone. If you start giving good players like Byron great money, you will soon be lacking in other areas.

Jones can chase a receiver right into his jersey - but does he ever even see the ball in flight? Give me a lesser physically-gifted CB who has some modicum of ball awareness and the ability to contest for the reception. THAT is what QBs FEAR - the corner who will make you PAY for the overly-calculated throw.

All they need fear in Byron Jones is an incompletion. Well, heck... they're gonna throw THOSE at least 40% of the time anyway.

If you guys are comfortable with Awuzie and Lewis being the #1 and #2 CBs on this team you're bat crazy - we'll get torched
That's why I laugh at the amount of disrespect Jones gets.

Byron Jones would literally be the number one corner on half the teams in the NFL yet fans act like the other corners on our team that play like #3s will easily fill the roll...... (Yeah have fun dropping 5 to 7 spots in pass defense next year)

We need this guy

Awuzie and Brown are terrible

I actually think your gonna see Awuzie rebound.....the crap Richard was teaching them (face guarding).....It was BS. As a player...what do you do?...Do what the coaches ask of you even though it goes against everything you've been taught as a player? Or do you go rogue.....and continue to do the the things that got you drafted high? Obviously Awuzie tried to be the good soldier...and carry out his crap assignments.
