Intriguing premise, but yeah despite trying to trade for him last year the context has changed with a wr heavy draft approaching.

How many surefire #1 type receivers are in this draft?

The Eagles need a #1, not a complimentary guy to add to their depth.

They draft #21, which is likely out of reach for Jeudy or Lamb. I don’t view Ruggs or the Colorado reciever as #1s.

Good counterpoint.

sure, I just meant in the context of being willing to trade for amari previously. But despite a number one making the most sense with ertz and goedert a dynamic complimentary piece can still have a big impact.

Because the Eagles don’t have any wide receivers unless you’re banking on the aging Jeffrey and DeSean Jackson.

If Cooper is tagged he can be traded. The Cowboys get something for effectively nothing. Goedert is the up and comer and their passing attack has been one-dimensional without real threats at wide reciever.
I understand my friend, but again, the egirls aren’t going to trade their best offensive player just to get a WR. Even a good one like Coop. Not gonna happen.

I think trading saves draft capital for both teams.

It’s easy to say “well why would they wanna lose Ertz,” but they’d be gaining Cooper.

Likewise, “why would we get rid of Cooper,” but we’d be gaining Ertz.

Frankly, I think one aspect Dak has lacked is a 3 down TE that he’d gain in Ertz (and I like Jarwin).

Trade idea...presuming we don’t franchise Dak

  1. Use the franchise tag on Cooper
  2. Trade Cooper to the Eagles for either Ertz or Goedert (Eagles would likely offer Ertz over Goedert)
Rationale

Cowboys may have some reluctance to signing Cooper for a long term contract worth ~$19-20M per year.

The Eagles actually offered a 2nd round pick to the Raiders for Cooper before the Cowboys outbid them with a 1st rounder. The point being is the Eagles have had recent interest in Cooper and in need of a #1.

Ertz will be 30 when the season starts while Goedert is just 24. I would guess the Eagles are looking to get a real threat at WR to pair with Wentz. Cooper could immediately renegotiate for a longer contract once traded.

Ertz would give the Cowboys a proven playmaking TE to pair with Dak. Dallas could also possibly grab Jeudy or Lamb should they drop to 17 or make a move to grab one if one is in striking distance.

Ertz is only due $6.6M in 2020 and $8.5M 2021 and then becomes a FA.

Dallas would be saving money by making this move and could utilize the extra cash on signing its own players or signing FAs.

Another ridiculous money saving idea. Right, send the Eagles our best WR who we just gave up a #1 for in 2018 to help Carson Wentz and put Philly in a position to win the division the next several years. Not to mention that trade would still leave them with one very capable TE. It’s obvious you didn’t give that trade enough thought.

We finally have a top 5 WR and you want to trade him away for a TE? :lmao2:

I could be wrong here, but now that I think on it, tagging and trading Cooper may not be all that simple.

First, I dont think it's possible unless Cooper agrees to an extension with that team. The new team cant tag him and he couldnt be forced to play on it anyway. So technically he would be a FA if traded while tagged. Has anyone ever been dealt on an unsigned tag and not agreed to an extension immediately? That's probably why.

So anyone trading for him would not only have to part with compensation, but pay him like UFA also....AND Cooper has to be on board.

This all tells me that the compensation part may not be all that much, if anything, let alone one of the best TEs in football, who happens to play for a rival.

Seems like the TE position is overvalued in Cowboys Nation...especially when you have 3 good WRs starting.

Don't tell anybody, this is a HUGE secret.....

"(Henry Ruggs is the faster person on earth with football in his hands) Ruggs is the one constant name being linked to the Eagles this draft season, and he’d fit right into a league that’s already dominated by speed.

During a win over the South Carolina Gamecocks this season, Ruggs was clocked at 24.3 miles per hour on a touchdown run and he ran 10.58 seconds in the 100-meters in high school."

In order to save money, which we have plenty of. Looks like someone ran out of ideas for threads bashing Dak and is desperate for attention.
