Hater in the house
And your point? Funny how some fans hold a QB who won a few playoff games over a lengthy career in such high esteem but bash the current QB who has done almost just as much in a quarter of the time.

Badmouthing Dak is ok, saying something negative about Romo is sin.

All right. I see that how you feel makes you beyond comprehending what some of us believe this forum is for ... sharing information about all Cowboys past and present.

There are threads I don't like, that I think are absolutely ignorant (and some posts as well), but I don't see the need to attack them or complain about them. I guess that's your thing, though, so have fun with that.
Lol, I love people who complain about other people complaining. That’s even worse than complaining about a topic of a thread but I guess that’s your thing, let’s continue to have fun :)

You literally just contradicted your own statement that you were complaining about. Good stuff!

Hahaha...funny how defensive people get over an irrelevant player from the past, isn’t it?

I love how many people forget all the Romo bashing threads that existed when he was actually playing, it was worse than the Dak threads. Not until he retired was he put on a pedestal and some fans became so defensive about him.

I agree with your images though, life on this site would be better without bringing up ex players who did little to nothing for this team. At least move the topic to the “irrelevant” forum or NFL forum or off topic forum where it belongs.

Holy great googly moogly!

At this rate, he's going to make more than Dak, not just Zeke.

Look, I love me some Romo, and he does make the games more fun to watch, but this is insane.

I don't tune in for broadcasters. Almost nobody does. If I hear Beth Mowins voice, I'm out, but otherwise, I'm generally OK with whomever is doing the game.

I would be shocked if he didn't get about 20M per.

He is far better than anybody else. Best since Madden/Summerall and Jim Nance is not on Pat Summerall's level.

When you hear the words: Tony Romo
Do you immediately Dream about the words: Dak Prescott

So let me get this straight, if I look through your post history you have never complained in a thread or criticized a topic that you didn’t start?

Lol, do you respond the same way to the hundreds of people that criticize Dak, Witten, Garrett, etc in the few positive threads that are started about them in the same way you did to me?

Apparently you’re not familiar with public forums, especially sports forums where people have differing opinions and typically voice them publicly.

Sounds like I butt hurt another Romo fan boy. Apologies.

Please do look thru my history i may have started 1 thread in my lifetime and i have never complain about the thread itself, if i see threads i don't want to read i just don't read them, but please feel free to look thru my history

Hilarious. A moderator who has seen and read hundreds (perhaps exceeding even a thousand) of Romo bashing threads "forgetting" they existed. :muttley:

Romo was bashed for not meeting some people's expectations as the Dallas Cowboys' starting quarterback--despite the strengths and/or weaknesses of teammates and coaches that made up the team during his career. For the past few years, Romo has not been the Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback and not only has continued being bashed but now stigmatized for his previous ties to the franchise.

Disclaimer: I am only speaking for myself and not for any other staff member.

The above image is located on the Forums page. It is also located at the top of the Fan Zone pages. Personally, I stopped thinking whether any active site member reads forum descriptions a while ago--along with the site's forum rules for that matter.

My opinions:

  1. "General" encompasses a wide range of conceivable topics that may or may not fall within the comprehension of any particular member.
  2. "Dallas Cowboys" equates as any past, present and possibly future connection with the franchise.

So.

Tony Romo is a former Dallas Cowboys player who has made news in his current sports broadcasting career.

What does that mean for me?

Well. It means that I (and again, I do not speak for any other staff member) read "At least move the topic to the “irrelevant” forum or NFL forum or off topic forum where it belongs" made in your reply directed to me and summarily dismissed it as an action I shall undertake. That said, it does not eliminate the possibility that I may eventually move this Fan Zone topic to another forum IF I believe certain participants' premediated postings drive it out OF the Fan Zone. Additionally, my inaction does not preclude the possibility that another staff member may move the thread to another forum in the future as well.

Of course, some may disagree with my opinions of forum descriptions. If so, I'm cool with it. One thing is abundantly clear on this and any other type of discussion arena--both on and off the internet: people disagree about a LOT of things. Life is like a box of chocolates after all.

Romo replacing Phil Simms was the biggest upgrade in the history of sports.

Simms was one of the all-time worst. Only Joe Theismann was actually worse than Simms. Emmitt would have been an upgrade over Simms.

Romo is way better than Aikman (As a commentator). I've noticed Aikman trying to imitate Romo's style of predicting the play to some extent.

As a QB nobody was better than Aikman (as long as he was in that scheme with great route runners in Irvin & Novacek). With non-route running idiot Dez, Romo was better than Aikman would have been. Aikman would have demanded that Jimmy trade Dez after about 5 minutes. I saw Aikman meltdown in training camp because Kevin Williams was 1 foot off on his break. Imagine Aikman with Dez 5 yards off from snap to snap and often on the wrong side of the field or running inside when the route was intended to be outside.

Witten on the other hand would have been even better with Aikman as hard as that is to believe. Romo was late on that short crossing route to Witten often and it caused a few INTs. Aikman never missed those throws unless he was getting hit.

Staubach probably could have been an all-time great commentator. He was/is great at everything.

It's amazing to me that a broadcaster can draw that kind of pay, but that's entertainment.

I do wonder if when he finishes his broadcast career he'll be mentioned in the same realm as Madden/Summerall, two of the all-time greats. Might end up closer to "Dandy" Don Meredith's career.

It has become clear that it is better (for me at least) to ignore the complaints by a certain member because I think he's feeding off the responses and it's obvious he's not capable of understanding what others are saying.

I am proud that two former Cowboys (Aikman and Romo) are considered the top broadcasters for the NFL. We are not only America's Team on the field, but in the booth as well. This should be something all Cowboys fans can appreciate, but I guess not.

I want to add that I do hope moderators don't kowtow to members who complain about threads like this and move them elsewhere. We should be able to discuss all things Cowboys in this forum.

I'm going to shut up about this now, though, because I don't want to pour any more fuel on the fire.

Is there a broadcaster salary cap you’re worried about here?

Haha, right? This is what I mean about people who don't want players to get paid (all sports, not just football). If it's not me (and even doesn't affect me) then be against, against, against, deny, deny, deny to nurse that ego. The NFL salary cap provides a convenient cover but lots of people feel this way in general and a major reason why front offices always have the support of piker fans in player negotiations.

I really don’t even need to look through your post history, you were complaining about people complaining thus making you a hypocrite.

Thanks for clearing this up, I look forward to starting many threads in the main forum that I normally wouldn’t have due to irrelevancy to the current Cowboys.
