How would you react if we go WR in the 1st

Im startin' to think this is a real option.
I think Ruggs could be there at 17...and its hard to imagine he wouldnt be the best player on the board.
If things get weird with Coooop....Ruggs sure makes life easy.

but the good thing is this WR group is deep enuff that we have options beyond Rd1.

I still think DT,S,CB in whatever order are the biggest needs...but BPA at 17...Ruggs or DE Epenesa need to be in the conversation.

And what if a DT and Safety is bad value at 17?
I don't think it will be wise to reach. I do think we can find a good DT or SS with the first pick, but all things rest on the way the previous 16 picks go.

PS- If there isn't a good DT or SS pick at 17, I do like Ruggs as it will always be great to have a guy with 4.2 speed.

B/c a player like that who is actually attainable doesn't exist.

The run stuffers available can't pass rush, and Collins is the best passrushing DT available.

Kinlaw is projected top 20 and Justin Madubuike is projected probable 2nd round, maybe late 1st.

Either of those guys could be at least as good as Collins and should be available at 17.

Trading down if there is an opportunity may be the best bet to get a DT or Safety. There are some decent ones that should go in the late 20's

If we miss out on Kinlaw, there’s a handful of quality prospects I like in the 2nd. All of which I think can develop into better players than what we have at DT.

If WR is pure BPA over a scrub DT then ok. We need a good DT, not another reach scrub reject wasting roster space....

Isn't Suggs up there too. He's a field stretcher.

Not at 17. In the 1st round if I'm drafting a WR it's one I think can turn into a 1.

Ruggs is a solid deep threat that I think will be a quality 2 in the NFL.

Exactly.

I’m worried about Dallas drafting for need and taking the best corner or Dtackle available with better players on the board.

Completely depends on what happens with Cooper.

If they spend on some defensive FAs and let Cooper go I'd be ok w the right guy at 17...BUT he has to eventually evolve into at least a 1A. He can't be a specialty type.

True but if BPA at 17 is an interior OL or RB I'm not sure we can do that.

Realistically, one of Kinlaw, Chiasson or Espenasa will be on the board and that'll probably have to be the pick.

Kinlaw is obviously a HR, but not sure how I feel about the other two....and every mock you see has those two in the 17 range.

Kinlaw is what we need. I don’t know how that happens at this point.

Chaisson I think is who we should be considering. I think the upside there is enormous and he plays a premium position.

Trading down and picking up another 3rd or 4th might be the best move if there's a trade partner. Team just needs more cheap contracts now that everyone is getting paid. The past few drafts have been putrid so there isn't much quality depth on the roster at all.

Cutting Tyrone Crawford and replacing him with a draft pick would help a ton, that's $8 million saved right there. Could probably use 2-3 premium draft picks on DL. Cam Fleming another 4.4 mil saved if he's let go.

I like Chaisson but would he gain weight as a DE or play as a 4-3 linebacker? I think he weighs 240, that's small for a 4-3 DE, right?

I think we’re headed in a direction of being a hybrid defense.. I feel like the goal is to use multiple fronts and this player gives you that flexibility..

Also, I believe he is only 20 years old.. He hasn’t even scratched what he is capable of imo..

He can easily add weight to that frame.. He also plays hard and has a high motor.

I would love to add him to our front 7.

I'd love the Cowboys to change up the D so their opponents don't know what's coming. They've played far too conservative and predictable in the past few years.

Didn’t our offensive line neutralize Aaron Donald in our game in Texas?

Kinlaw's not going to be there at 17 and Madabuike is, at best, a 1-for-1 replacement, so you're not improving.

I was responding to the comment that there aren't any worthwhile DTs that would be available, a 1 for 1 replacement is worthwhile, imho...
