How many times do we have to go through this QB cycle before you realize THIS IS JUST WAY IT IS! QBS GET PAID!!!:lmao2:

Now if you don't think Dak is worth Market Value.....there are 31 other NFL teams and XFL to enjoy in your alternate universe:muttley:

It can’t be as simple as pay that man cause he’s decent anymore..

You pay truly elite QBs and do your best even though you’re probably still not going to win a Super Bowl.

You pay a mediocre guy like he is elite and you’re just giving yourself almost no shot at a Super Bowl.

Dallas has built a foundation for a QB with some talent to thrive.. That is where they should keep investing until they find a truly elite QB.

Dak is a good player in an optimal environment but requires a incredible roster because he’s just not a player that generates a lot of offense on his own.

Some team will be a trendsetter though.. Dallas won’t be that team.. We’re always late to things like this.

The #1 hope is that the CBA kicks in and gives us cap space but Dak’s agents are fighting for a short term deal.

You state Dak is "decent" like it's fact but that is YOUR opinion (like I said in your alternate universe) NOT fact.

Dak has proven you can win with his skill set.

You pay truly elite QBs and do your best even though you’re probably still not going to win a Super Bowl.
How is the weather on your alternate universe?

QBs get Paid Period. The ones with potential and winning records get paid.

That is where we are.... there are only 3 elite QBs in the NFL Mahomes, Wilson and Brees

In your alternate universe your assume Dallas Cowboys somehow deserve an elite QB...we've only had 2 in our 60 year history.

You pay a mediocre guy like he is elite and you’re just giving yourself almost no shot at a Super Bowl.
What side of the road do you drive on?

Do you say Z or Zed?

On planet Earth specifically Dallas Cowboys think that player is Dak
Dak is a good player in an optimal environment but requires a incredible roster because he’s just not a player that generates a lot of offense on his own.
Well on our universe ALL QBs require optimal environment to thrive...

We do have a myth running around that elite QBs don't need optimal environment...

Mahomes passes to Kelce and Tyreek coached by Reid...

Some team will be a trendsetter though.. Dallas won’t be that team.. We’re always late to things like this.
Yep in your alternate universe The Dallas Cowboys aren't trendsetters :lmao2:

How old are you seriously?? ... Trust me the Cowboys have sent records on players with much less talent or success than Dak.

Ps...we are No.1 Sports Franchise in the World....highly likely Jerry bucked trends in his Journey

The #1 hope is that the CBA kicks in and gives us cap space but Dak’s agents are fighting for a short term deal.
Dak's agent is doing what great agents do!! Get your client the best contract possible and Dak has had the leverage since Zeke held out

The problem with guys like you is you don’t understand football.. So since you can’t differentiate one QB from another this is where we run into trouble like me saying Dak is slightly above mediocre and you thinking that is some opinion from an alternate universe.

This is for you.. Straight from reality..

Since Young’s championship in 1994, only three other quarterbacks have eaten up 10% of their teams salary cap- Eli Manning in 2011 (11.7%), Peyton Manning in 2006 (10.4%), and Brett Favre in 1996 (10.2%). The average spend on a Super Bowl QB has been just 6.4%. If Brady wins the Super Bowl his cap percentage will fit between the Manning brothers at 11.1%. Russell Wilson’s 0.49% would rank below all others except for Brady in 2001 who cost just 0.47% of the Patriots salary cap. If Brady wins he will become just the fourth QB to win a title after signing a large contract extension. The others to do so were the Manning’s and Ben Roethlisberger.

But clogging the salary cap on this one position is not going to help a team win a Super Bowl. Eventually someone will but I can almost guarantee that it will be one of the players considered an elite level talent, not a second or third tier guy simply being paid like one.

Once again....those stats are based in the real universe where Dak is considered by people who understand football as a very good QB not above mediocre.

So before I begin to engage you in substantive discussion, I'll wait until you to get back to reality.

I don't start conversations on faulty premises... So come back to earth and accept common knowledge amongst people who "understand football" that Dak is no worse than a franchise tag...

Even his worst critics think Dak is better than mediocre.

Grow up!!

Slightly above mediocre means 10-16 just so I can define that for you.. There is 32 teams..He’s somewhere in the top 16 and plays on a team with a great foundation for a QB.

So I say slightly above mediocre... My problem is a slightly above mediocre QB getting paid like he is top 3 at his position when he has proven, in this reality, that he couldn’t even have any real playoff success on his rookie deal when he was making a extremely low cap percentage.

I don’t care if he is elite.. Him taking a giant contract that eats up a ton of our cap percentage drastically reduces our odds of winning a Super Bowl. He needs a lot around him and we couldn’t even provide all he needed when he was making pennies.

How can we have a conversation when our definition or meaning of words is different.

"top 16 out of 32" has never been defined as slightly above mediocre

Bye bro....

Prepare to be sick. Dak isn't likely going under 38. And Jerry doesn't want him to leave. Unfortunately it's unlikely we can keep enough pieces around him at that cap hit to reach the promised land. But we'll see.

It will be all about structure imo. The sickening part would be wasting another season because hes not learning the new system and preparing.

You think Dak plays under a tag? No way. All a tag will do is prevent him from hitting the open market. It won't get him into a cowboy uniform. The fact is that unless Jerry can land Brady or Rivers or Birdgewater, Dak has ALL the leverage for 2020. Thats where having a GM with no foresight gets us.

For Dak at least, the transition tag would put him on the open market. He should have no problem signing that.

The other thing people never seem to consider, or they think it's a given, will Dak be paid that much by someone else if Dallas doesn't pay him? Someone else would have paid Wilson. Someone else will pay Mahomes if the Chiefs don't. Is that market there for Dak? Is he at the level to be paid market value? He doesn't awe anyone. But either did Cousins or Alex Smith and they got paid. I really don't know. That's why I bring up the transition tag. That's an open market with the option to match.

Good discussion. Compares Dak and Goff and asks if the Rams are regretting their stupid decision of signing their mediocre player.

You meant Zeke vs Gurley, right? Either way, Jerry looks a fool once again.

Too much is being made about his contract. He’ll get a contract or he won’t. Whatever. Too many pundits “reporting” news in a fashion that is basically fabricating news.

So-and-so said X so this means Y, but nothing has happened so let’s talk about Y

That’s the problem with today’s news. It’s not news, it’s just speculation based on statements.

Someone in a negotiation making a standard comment should not be considered “news”. It doesn’t deserve as much airtime as it gets. You have entire segments geared towards reporting nothing but statements that don’t mean anything.

Just let it be. Whatever is going to happen will happen.

Dak isn't a playmaker. He's a follower. He follows what plays are called, but when the team struggles he doesn't make plays that lift the team.
He's an outstanding athlete, but a marquee quarterback has to be a playmaker.
Let him walk.

I'm glad to see you have a quality replacement ready for Dak. Who is it?

Some one has to keep it real.

Anyone that possesses the smallest amount of critical thinking regarding your favorite team, you label as a hater.

And you call that keeping it real? Lol

Case Keenum. He is easily better than Dak.
Andy Dalton wouldn't be bad.
Marcus Mariota would be okay. He's struggled with a bad team in Tennessee, but the guy can play. Tennessee put together a run, but they just were learning as they went. Tannehill was better, but Mariota wasn't bad.

Would you want him if he signed for $1 million per year? If so, why didn’t you want him the past 4 years?
