The safety and defensive tackle positions also have their share of questions that need to be answered for the Dallas Cowboys. March could see quite a few faces at these positions leave the building...

LVE & Jaylon Smith will be back as the Boys key starters which does alleviate worry compared to some other positions.

It’s not like having to worry about your starting QB, franchise receiver, or top corner being free agents.

Having LVE and Jaylon last season made me think the Cowboys had the best line backer duo in the league. Boy was I wrong. This year I have big concerns with both of those guys.

Most of us here are in the same boat. Lots of talk last offseason about "best LB pair in the league". Ooops.

If you wanna be concerned about Jaylon, go watch him get absolutely stonewalled by a heavy bag hanging from a track that he's supposed to push maybe 10 or 20 yards. Just couldn't drive with his left leg.

Starting the season, he had a little hitch in his giddy up. Noticeable, but didn't seem like an issue. Then he was having trouble breaking down and making cuts. Then he was just shying from contact. But the pro bowl fail looked to me like a guy who just physically can't play anymore.

I have more hope for Jaylon than LVE because of that neck issue. Marinelli defense was under performing and hopefully these new coaches can get both LBs playing better.

I was watching tape of the 2018 season and Jaylon did not run with the hitch like he did last season. I wonder if he played with an injury last year. I believe Cooper was hurt all year long. As a matter of fact I think LVE, Dak, Martin, Law, Byron, and Tyron all played through the season with injuries that Eagles players would sit out.

Can't count on Gregory. Not sure if I would be glad if he is reinstated or not. As to can he be counted to on, and past history says no.

That was a physics issue in my opinion. The wheels are lined up on a track, and the bag is on a chain that doesn't stay in line with the track. so if you are pushing off center, it will not move smoothly. If you get the slack out of the chain and it is aligned with track you will go fast. Not a power issue.

Not to mention the 2 people in it were on different bags, so one could have been greased better, or manufactured better, and so on.

I hope the 2018 version of Jaylon Smith can be located.

Hopefully, with a full recovery, LVE can return to his 2018 form. Smith didn’t play as poorly but definitely took a step back. The problem with Smith was there was much more variance to his play in '19 than there had been before.

The big plays were still there, but there were many more frustrating plays mixed in where Smith struggled to get off his blocks or was slow to get off his spot. He especially struggled against play action, as he had a hard time changing direction and bailing to coverage after stepping forward to fill against the run. I'm sure this will be addressed by Mike & Mike. There's hope now that Garrett/Marinelli are gone. Don't give up on our duo just yet. :D

Alignment could have been part of it, but he still wasn't driving with his left leg. If it really seemed stuck you'd plant both legs to give the best push you could.
