Which of these do you pick?

I've run through a few mocks of my own comparing the teams drafting to immediate needs trying to figure out who will be available when the Cowboys pick at 17. Obviously there will be hundreds of players available but here are the bigger names I keep coming up with:

WR - Ruggs
S - Delpit
WR - Reagor
S - McKinney
CB - CJ Henderson
Edge - Epenesa
QB - Hebert

I threw Herbert in there to feed the Dak haters.

Of course a lot depends on what happens at the combine and with free agency. Let's assume they franchise Dak and sign Cooper.

That group it would have to be Espenasa 2nd choice is McKinney

Or trade the pick as someone will be desperate to grab Herbert if he fell that far.

Epenesa screams Tyrone Crawford. I need a higher ceiling than that at 17.

Delpit's tackling issues are a problem.

Henderson makes Delpit look like Ronnie Lott.

The way I approach this draft if Kinlaw DT is there hes the pick. If I get Kinlaw in the 1st Round than I'm looking towards the
secondary in the 2nd Round than I'm most likely coming back to the Defense in the 3rd Round. If Kinlaw is gone and no one in
the top 10 have slid down I will not trade up stand pat and select Xavier McKinney S. If I draft McKinney than in the 2nd Round
I'm looking DT or CB in the 2nd Round. I'm not sure he will be available but I like Thaddeus Moss TE in the 3rd Round.

McKinney out of any of them. The more I look at him, the more I am convinced he is going to be a Minkah Fitzpatrick or Tyrann Mathieu type of player.

Ruggs would also be good, and while I'm not a Herbert guy, I think his floor is basically Josh Allen. Paying him peanuts on a 5 year contract would be tempting.

Why Moss?..hes short, cant block & isnt fast....hes a 7th round pick at best

If we franchise Dak then I'll take Herbert.

If we signed Dak to long term contract then I'll take whomever I have rated the highest by significant amount on my board. If rated the same then I take position of need.

Cowboys draft poorly when they try to fill needs and reaches for players. They talk themselves into taking inferior players who often do not work out.

Not a Dak hater, but if Dak isn't extended I'll take the swing on Herbert & the $30+ Million cap savings per year; not that it matters, because there's a good chance he goes top 5.

I have the rest of the players stacked Ruggs, Delpit, McKinney, Epenesa, Reagor, Henderson; so really the answer is Ruggs, Delpit, or Epenesa.

The problem with this question & doing mock drafts is we don't know the results of free agency. If we re-sign Quinn, my desire for forcing a DE pick dies. If we re-sign Cooper & Cobb, I'm waiting on WR and seeing who falls through the cracks.

Easy answer is a safety. I prefer Delpit over McKinney, but I'm not going to argue with anyone between the two.

I'm not sold on Herbert but i'm sold on his talent as a prospect and if McCarthy is as good as some people think he is at developing QB's then you take Herbert.
