Two firsts for Dak will never happen

I'm going to make a brief rant here.

It's never going to happen.

If your next big trade idea or QB solution involves the concept of a franchise tag, followed by letting Dak go in exchange for two first round picks, then just stop.

This isnt about Dak love or hate. There's no way a team gives up two firsts AND agrees to a contract bigger than Dallas has offered. It will never happen. Stop telling us about how we're going to get Dalton/Bridgewater/Rivers/Brady/Aikman/Marino/Montana and also get two first round picks.

Maybe there's a tag and trade. I dont know. But we're not getting two first round picks.

Meh, it only takes one. If Sam Bradford can get a first and a fourth...

Everyone knows this. Even the posters posting the nonsense. They know it to. It’s what makes seeing some these threads even more nauseating.

Wait a tick. You mean I have to give up two first round draft picks then pay Dak 35 million. Rumors say Dak doesn't even want a ling term deal. So one year after I relinquish my second first round pick, I'll have to start negotiating with Dak again.
Screw that. Y'all can keep him.

I wouldn't rule it out. Wash gave up 3 1's and a 2 for RG3
Hou gave up 2 1's and a 2 for an OT
I'm not trading Dak but it's absolutely possible that a team would give up 2 first for Dak. In fact I would say negotiations start there

It’s not possible. Any team asking for a price would laugh at that and simply say “you took a year and couldn’t sign him because you obviously didn’t think he was worth as much as he and his agent did. But now you expect me to believe you feel he is worth 2 first rounders?”

You are simply kidding yourself if you believe Jerry could pull that off.

If Dak goes to a team where they expect to win 10 or more games over the next couple of years I could see it.

You guys do understand you can tag him and trade him for less than 2 firsts, right?

Probably not

I believe If it is a non-exclusive Tag then I think the mandatory 2 1st round picks apply no? If it is the exclusive Tag then it is up to the Team what they ask for trade if they decide to trade him.

The interesting point in favor of the Jones is precisely this topic, because if Dakota gets the non-exclusive Tag and absolutely no one shows up at the door for him, then his value comes down to a more realistic and reasonable amount and it would be easier to get to the range the Jones have proposed. At his point "waiting" works in favor to the Jones and not Dakota's camp, even if other contracts (i.e. Mahomes) are pending to happen. The fact that no team will be willing to even ask about Dakota's services when Tagged with the non-exclusive will work negatively on him regardless of how others contracts get done.

You're simply kidding yourself if you think Dak isn't signed because he wants too much. Its very much possible as Dak is a franchise QB and teams have given up much, much more for a more unproven QB.

It would be a simple sign and trade. If all parties involved wanted to get a deal done in 15 minutes they would. Easy peasy.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a team like the Chargers, Saints if Brees retires, maybe Oakland if they move on from Carr and can’t get Brady, maybe the Dolphins, don’t think He fits at TB with BA, maybe Panthers if they move on from Cam, the real interesting one would be NE if the lose Brady Bill ain’t going to over pay but would Dak go to NE for less money. If I am Dak I saw Romo’s career get wasted by Jerry and company so heck yeah I’d ask for the moon but if NE came calling I’d go cheaper.

Why would you think that? Did anyone pluck Cousins from the tag? Yet he ended up getting a good deal. The two first rounders is what discourages teams. Why not just wait until they hit the market? If you think Dak is asking for more than he's worth, transition tag him. Then he'll truly see his value.

Irvin88 I like Dak, always have, and I still have hope for him. But if I was any other team looking for a QB, I wouldn't even consider giving up 2 firsts for him. If I wanted to trade 2 firsts, I'd use them to trade up in the draft. But I just don't believe Dak is worth 2 first round picks, or that any team would give that much.

it’s possible. A team only have to offer something more than the non franchise tag of 27 million.
