Interesting coming from a legend who had to hold out to get his 2nd contract.........

true BUT RBs have a short career, well most, and only have one big bite at the apple PLUS they make lie 2 to 2.5 times less then a QB!! huge cap drain at QB especially one outside the top 5 wanting elite money..its been our point from day one.. hes refusing to take 32/33 at 6yrs to help the team at all when IF he plays as well as he wants to be paid like, can come back in 4yrs and Jerry will redo the deal IF Daks tearing it up..

sounds more like player who feels he never will be better then he is now and wants it all now. ES has point that ive shared from day one, not even 28 , Hes been turning down 32/33, thats ridiculous..Brees and brady, manning all played like 19+years had 4-5 contracts , most of the rules are protecting QBs he has many more bites at the apple..

There wasn’t a salary cap. plus Smith was fresh off back to back rushing titles and a Super Bowl victory.

The salary cap hasn’t stopped players from holding out and caused them to leave money on the table for others. The Super Bowl victory in 92 and the back to back rushing titles gave Emmitt all the ammo he needed to hold out for more money. Emmitt accomplished a lot more than Dak at that time but he wasn’t the teams franchise QB in a day and age when QBs are being paid an insane amount of money.

Dak plays in a state the has no state taxes on income. He has and will have endorsements for being the starting QB of the Dallas Cowboys. He already has Adidas, New Era caps, Sleep Number beds, 7-Eleven, Pepsi, Oikos, Citi, and Cambell's Soup as his endorsers. And I'm sure there will be more (especially if he wins a Superbowl). So being the starting QB for Dallas does have its pro's. But I'm sure Emmitt is just saying that because he wants Dak and the Cowboys to have plenty of success.

Not sure Emmitt is the one to be giving Dak contract advice, he did hold out for a new contract in 93. Doubt he had that same perspective when he was playing.

Emmitt was due a new contract. The Cowboys were expecting him to play while they worked on a new deal. He wasn't going to put himself in position to get injured without one.

Elliott still had 2 years left after the Cowboys picked up his fifth year option. He was scheduled to make a 2-3 million in 2019 and 9 mill in 2020.

See the difference?

how many SBs has Dak won?

that’s “perspective “

How many Super Bowls did Derek Carr, Jimmy G, Carson Wentz and Jared Goff win when they got paid? You don’t have to win Super Bowl’s to get paid, especially at the QB position.

I understand Dak wants money. But if he can picture himself taking less and allowing the team to improve in other areas and then winning a championship? The dude would be a legend and endorsements after that will be forever.

It’s easy for us to say because it’s not our money but just my opinion. I don’t blame him for wanting to get paid but I just hope he can look at the bigger picture. I’m sure his agent isn’t though.

Dak is due a new contract and he might not want to put himself in a position to get injured without one. He battled through a couple of injuries last season. As for Elliot this isn’t about him.
