Don’t mind the added playoff team, keeps it interesting for many teams on the last day of the season.
If they do it, fine, if not, I’m fine with that also.

now the 17 game schedule is stupid, but it is a compromise until they get it to 18 games. Which I feel the same, pass or no pass. But if both Are passed I have no issues with it.

each person will have their like or dislikes about one or the other or both. As that is the way the world works.
It will be funny seeing all the argument for and against. At least it won’t be a Dak thread. But I am sure someone will find a way to make it one.

Misleading title. The playoffs MAY be changed this season.

Still has to be voted on by the owners and then the Players Association has to approve it.....

"The NFL Playoffs as we know it might be about to change. As part of a new collective-bargaining agreement proposal from NFL owners, which could be voted on this week, the NFL Playoffs would expand to seven teams from each conference making it into the postseason, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter."

"According to the report, the NFL’s plan would go into effect for the upcoming 2020 season and would see only one team from each conference receive a first-round bye."

I’d be curious where the additional game is coming from. Will it be another conference game. Or non conference. Adding an odd number could impose some imbalances.

I’d be more for adding 4 teams (8 in each conference) than only 2. We could still have 2 teams with a bye and add two wild cards.

And going to 18 games instead of 17. Again the odd number could pose some imbalances in the schedule.

Traditionally we’ve always increased the games by 2 from 12, 14 then 16. 2 preseason games would be enough.

I’d also consider adding a couple expansion teams. I think St Louis might be one venue and possibly another in the South. San Antonio with the huge population shift in Texas could support one.

I know Jerry would be against since Alamo City is our 2nd largest fan base. But screw him. That area definitely could support and want it.

I’m ok with the expanded playoffs and a 17 game season as long as the increase the rosters from 53 to 56 or more.

Not sure if I'm a fan of this change or not. I'm of the opinion that it would be better to eliminate "wild cards" altogether and only have the four Division winners make the playoffs. No bye week for anyone.

fans are asking for this? This reminds me of every corporation doing things differently just for the sake of it, or stores changing their layout for no reason when the customers are accustomed to and like the current setup. I wonder if this change has anything to do with tv ratings, even though there was a slight increase in 2019, to make up for their losses in the few years prior to last season. Either way Goodell the politician sucks.

I'm a traditionalist. I pretty much always hate change. I'm still pissed about the three day draft.

The 17 game schedule bothers me more than the 7 team playoffs because of how it impacts stats. You no longer can compare with the past if you're now playing an extra game.

On the flip side, you're trading a less active preseason gameday for something more likes fruitful in the regular season.

Meh, its the only way Garrett would have had a chance.
Lol true, if this was implemented back in 2010 Garrett would still be here. It would be 8-8 with a wild card loss every year but enough for Jerry to justify keeping.

Pretty soon they will announce that all teams that don't make the playoffs will still get participation trophies. With 14 teams in the playoffs that's just 2 short of half the teams in the playoffs. Talk about watering down the playoffs.
