If New CBA agreed to, increases chances of losing Cooper

Eh, can still lose him if a team wanted him badly enough.

Say a team like the Colts, for example, threw him a 19 mil a year contract. Having him on the trans tag would make us lose him for no compensation if we didn't match. Only way not to lose Cooper is to FT him and get an agreement with Dak sooner than later.

Players on the TT can test free agency just like any other free agent. Just have the stipulation of the original team having the option to match a deal the player agrees to. Only gives the last team an one year deal to keep the player if no other team gives him a "worthy" offer. That being said, Cooper would get offers. Maybe not a stupid one, but enough to make the Jones guys at least think before matching.

I think it would be the mother of all sociology studies if there were no nfl for a year. for the players, for the owners, and for the fans.
First thing you'd see are a lot of Sunday college games and they'd make out like bandits.

Can you imagine a 12 month off season on this forum? We'd have Reality asking for donations to get online psychiatrists to join up and we'd have group therapy threads and a Suicide Prevention thread. He'd need a new Emoji for Go Ahead, Jump.

Coop & Dak are Dallas' number one priorities no matter how many threads state otherwise w/media sources.

If the Cowboys want to sign Cooper they will. Please stop these chicken little threads. If the league and union agree to a deal the Cowboys and Coopers agent would have the parameters for the deal. Dak and Cooper would be foolish if they signed a long term deal before the CBA is completed. None of the talking heads give us that information.
If we don’t have “Chicken Little” threads, what we have to talk about this time of year????!!!!

We're talking IF. But not likely it be done before March. Maybe get to it in July. Lot of these guys want to get some team matters behind them before putting their name on a paper that would cost them money or players.

(Haven't seen or heard any mention of Patrick Mahomes $40 million contract yet. My guess is if KC did it now, it would drive up the costs of free agency this year. They'll get to it when some of the free agent dominoes have fallen)

If the new CBA is agree to prior to the start of the new, it is highly likely that the two tag option will no longer be available. If Dallas does not reach an agreement with either before then, they will only be able to franchise tag one, the transition tag will go away and the other will be able to test free agency....
What makes you think deal with dak isnt already done, just waiting for the CBA to be finalized. Theres a reason both sides have been working on this deal. There are alot of players and agents and teams with big money on the line on these contracts. But no agent is going to jump the gun. Dak isnt the only player ready to sign for big money, nobody has signed. You people just have no patience. Everyday you people create a new story in your head. Just sit patiently and wait for this deal to be signed then the signings will follow quickly.

Not necessarily. Here's a good primer on the CBA negotiations. Check out What changes are the sides already in agreement on?

we did without a hall of fame TE, and what happened, he came back and still nothing happened.

sometimes you have to lose to gain and see whats there. im pissed he came back but there were bigger issues than him for what went wrong.

do we need a hall of fame TE? no, we had one and the coach wasted his career.

lets see what we have to work with and where go from there. Nothing wrong with that

I think Cooper is gone. At least Dak will get his money and then we can rue the contract.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...te-free-agency-for-cowboys-titans-buccaneers/

me too, (with Cooper being gone) .. if it turns out we'll be forced to franchise tag Dak ,and no use of a transition tag on Cooper.

And that will always change the dynamics of our upcoming draft if Cooper leaves in FA. .. instead of being freed up to focus on the top defensive players early on, we'd also
now to be forced to add a Day one WR, first round WR very early on.

That's very big as Dak needs that legit true lead WR , not just two No.2 WRs, plus that 1st rounder rookie won't have the game day experience and connection rapport with Dak early on,...

What will you do if you win the lottery? It's more likely to happen than for the CBA to be finalized before players are tagged.
