Why didn't Troy, Emmitt, Romo, D-Law and Zeke take less? Why didn't they give the team a discount?

Oooh, but Dak all of a sudden should?

Not that I agree with Dak requesting top pay, but how can one player demand that of Dak when they didn't do that themselves?

And we still don't know for sure the bone of contention between the two camps. Might not be the salary at all, but guaranteed money, duration of contract, etc.

Should Dak get top money? Heck no. But these guys are saying he should take a discount when they don't know what he's for sure asking for. The 33 million he turned down might have been for other reasons. We just don't know.

Now if it does come out for sure that he's asking for top money, then yeah, he's hurting the team for his own gain....but he may just be doing it for security. Maybe he wants a no trade clause. Maybe he wants a 5 or 6 year and they won't go that far.

Skip Bayless makes some real valid points. Say what you want about the guy. He's killing Sharpe in this argument.

I AGREE WITH SKIP..look we arent talking a huge discount we are TALKING SIMPLY TAKING the 32/33 and say 6yrs instead of 4..he will have several bites at the apple if he continues to grow..im with skip I think Dak and his agents believe he will never be better then right now, they dont have confidence in themselves to drag the DC to a SB or two and then come in and ask for a new deal 2-3 yrs from now..

Time to draft a QB. That's all I have to say. Doesn't matter if Dak re-signs or not draft a QB.

I think most of us want them to draft a QB to develop. Maybe we will now that Garrett and company are out. MM is a QB kinda guy, so it's likely. But it depends on Jerry and what they think they need...but they should ALWAYS be looking for QB's unless we end up in a situation like a Montana/Young or Favre/Rodgers. You should always be grooming a guy that is hungry for the job and has talent....no more crap backups please.

Why should Dak take less? Jerry, Stephen and the Cowboys certainly won’t pay more than they can afford.

The NFL is a business...accept it and get over it.

As great as Emmitt was, he should be the last person to question any player for wanting to get as much money as they can get. Emmitt in the last year of a contract sat out of camp and the 1st 2 games until the Cowboys gave him a new contract which incidentally made him the highest paid running back in the NFL.

Then Skip kept comparing Brady's last couple of contracts that came about after already putting in 14 season in and the accumulative amount of money he's made and how he didn't need any more money to Prescott who is coming off his rookie contract and what money he's made thus far. Skip and some here sound like socialists that are opposed to anyone that want to make as much money as they can.

Agree with you on this but the only argument I can think of for Troy and Emmitt is that they won SBs and Emmitt was the leading rusher twice before he held out I believe. The other three don't have a reason.

The players have every right to ask for the most amount possible, that is 100% ok. It's up to the organization to set the tone and say NO. I like that Jerry has said they will not set the market. Now they have to prove it which is something they failed to do with zeke.

Dak has earned the money and has every right to take it . What it comes down to is by giving the team a discount so they can acquire more talent and have a better chance of winning a championship do you really serve yourself better in the long run .

Brady thought so he wanted to win more SBs than any other QB and he did it and Im betting after a long successful career he probably has enough money to be comfortable .
But what do the SBs really do for him after football . Would the extra 5 to 10 million a year for ten yrs be more beneficial to him , Couple more houses boat as big as Jerrys or what ever obviously not in his mind .

Brady wanted the distinction of doing what nobody else had done and he got it . Not every player rates their success on championships some look at the money first and if they get the championship all the better .

Depends on the player some look at it as employment and get there satisfaction from making the most they can and providing for their family in the best way possible . We as fans want championships players families want lifetime security .

To give a discount or not is a decision Dak has to make but there is no wrong answer it just depends on what is your priority
