Fake fans, his endorsement money has nothing to do with what the team is paying him. Just like your employer reducing your salary, for selling on eBay.

The success of my employer has nothing to do with my personal merchandise sales. Cowboys? Um...I'd say YES. "America's TEAM!"

Amazing the rationalizing people will do to suit their opinions.

Only if you're a linear thinker.. lol

1) I was just messing with you when I said, "Pay him! " because y'all are all so serious about it.

2) Dak is going to get paid. Seriously paid. And folks might as well wrap their minds around that fact. The Jones have NEVER not paid a top tier player or anyone else in FA that they truly wanted. Well, except Nnamdi Asoumgha and that turned out to be a win. Why stress about it?
Linear thinkers are regarded as intelligent and honest. For scientists there is no other way. If not linear thinking, then what?

"As of 2019, Dak made $50 million off of endorsement deals with several top companies, including Campbell’s Chunky Soup, 7-Eleven, New Era caps, Sleep Number beds, Pepsi, Citi, and Oikos. Aside from those deals – many of which are in place for years to come – Prescott has taken out loss-of-value and disability insurance policies that will compensate him in the event of a career-ending injury."

This is what angers me. You're making plenty of money off of endorsements (some you would not get by being on another team). A few mill less will not hurt you
Endorsements are predicated on marketability, not team. Peyton manning has made a fortune from endorsements. Same for aaron rodgers. You can't really blame dak for being a smart individual.

Even when ES played, can't remember one of his commercials on TV. Now he may have had a sponsor but not commercials being played on TV.

LMAO, Prescott, reportedly, made 7M in endorsements this past season, over half of what Emmitt got in that entire hold out contract and all Prescott had to do was act like a stupid jock, Emmitt had to avoid getting hammered.

I just don't get the jock endorsement thing at all. It must work on some people or the insurance companies wouldn't keep paying Manning and Rodgers for those stupid commercials. I don't expect them to be decent actors but at least they could get better writers. That entire State Farm scene is so stupid, I can't believe people actually respond to that.

If they tag Prescott and he's a no show for 26-33M to play football for one season, those endorsements will be gone in a hummingbird's heartbeat. No way they can tie themselves to someone like that because the consumer that actually eats that crap from that can isn't going to relate to a person turning his nose up at what amounts to 13-15 lifetime earnings of the average consumer of Chunky soup. Those endorsements are the Cowboys leverage to make sure he does show because do not think Cowboys fans would not boycott his sponsors and let them know it. And there are enough that don't want him as the DC QB to begin with to have an impact.

All do respect to Emmitt but Dak doesn't need to be listening to any former player who held out the first 2 games of the regular season looking for a big second contract. Not many things bother fans, especially former players more than the money players are making today. It's easy for everyone to say a player should take less money to keep their team together when it's not their money and future that's on the line. Most players only get one opportunity at a huge contract and they have to take advantage of the going rate at their position, because it's only a matter of time before they become expendable and have to take a pay cut to stay on their team or in the league. Once a players performance declines there's no loyalty, teams move on.

If all things were equal you may have a point. The huge difference here is Emmitt won a superbowl and was the best in class at his position. I like Dak, but he has not won a conference championship and he is arguably not a top 10 QB in the league.

He is trying to hold the team hostage and he is not worth the money, if he prevents Dallas from being structurally sound.

Jerry is not afraid to write checks, but the team has to function any pay other in order to be competitive. This is my point and I believe Emmitt's point as well. Emmitt's contract did not eat up significant levels of cap, especially considering Dak is not a top 5 QB in the NFL.

Emmitt being the best at his position after back to back rushing titles is why he held out. Zeke held out this past summer because he felt he was the best at his position. Dak mat not have won a Super Bowl but he is a top 10 QB. Some of the things he’s accomplished his first four years puts him in the top 5. There’s a big difference between an RB in the 90s and a QB today. It was 4 yards in a cloud of dust during the 90s but today it’s a QB driven league which is why QBs are being paid the amount of money they are. The QB is the face of your franchise. If you’re one of those who would rather have a lesser QB for cheaper money this discussion is over. Tired of wasting my time with this.

I have always been a big fan of Emmitt and still am but when it came to his money he was unwilling to do any favors regardless of marketing. I still feel confident that both the Cowboys and Prescott will come to an agreement and get a deal done.

Don't be angered, clown. Get mad at the billionaire owner being cheap, not the quasi-millionaire playing a dangerous sport.

Nobody is angry, clown. :lmao2:

Ehhh I agree with what you're saying.

But there are teams (Jaguars, Chargers etc) where people tend to care a little less and wonder who the hell that guy is

Dak clearly cares about himself and no one else.
At least he played out his contract or should I say didn’t sit out with 2 years left on his contract while his teammates were practicing. I hope Dak does sit out, Jerry has already set the precedence with Zeke.

Drop the Cabo bomb Dak!

Not sure Emmitt is the one to be giving Dak contract advice, he did hold out for a new contract in 93. Doubt he had that same perspective when he was playing.

yeah after winning a superbowl and the cowboys going 0-3 until he signed. sure he got more money

Zeke got more money and we weren’t coming off a Super Bowl win or an 0-2 start.

May be Garrets fault but Dak at most should get 20 mil for 2021. Take another look next season.
