I don't see anywhere they gave any reason for not taking market value, other than saying "he should not take less." What are they considering less?

They conclude:

"If a team like the Chargers or Colts or Titans or Buccaneers make him an offer based on the dynamics of the open market, Dak is smart enough to factor his marketing value if he stays in Dallas when comparing the Cowboys’ best offer to the best offers that come from other teams.

"But the Cowboys don’t want it to come to that, and they’re planning to use their power under the CBA to keep that from happening. If they do, Dak has power, too. And if the Cowboys won’t be hesitating to use their power, Dak shouldn’t hesitate to use his, either."

His power is in holding out or not signing the tag. If he sits out the year, he's hoping someone will want him. Not many teams are going to blaze a trail to sign him knowing he's not going to sign market, and that as soon as his next contract is due, they face the same situation.

I'm raising a glass to all Zone members who have the stamina and creativity to discuss Dak Prescott on a daily basis from every possible angle imagined. You are clearly a better member than I:)

Talking Heads need to stop. Dak is not signing a new deal until CBA is agreed upon. His agent would be an idiot if he signed before then. Unless the Cowboys offer him 40 million a year.

I'm getting tired of all of the Dak talk. A part of me is now hoping that Jerry just comes out and let the world know we're moving on without him.

I'm getting tired of people not wanting to pay market value and pushing BS "he gets endorsements!" arguments.

Like freaking Chunky Soup money should make you agree to less money.

Im exhausted and haven’t been around as much lately because of that.......I wanted JG gone and finally got that. The Dak stuff is ridiculous. He’s going to be signed. It’s like Dak is the new JG. JG could only wish!

I don’t even know how I got to this thread as I have even stopped reading Dak threads let alone respond to them since like November.

Wonder how many of those saying Dak should take less would be ok with someone telling them they should take less at their job because they're just not good enough and should test the market.

If an employer offered me 28 million per year PLUS several million in endorsements, and no taxes, I’d jump at it! Rich is rich, set for life!

Joe Shmoe does a job he hates for a tiny fraction of that, employed by a greedy person far wealthier that doesn’t care about him one little bit. Joe has NO ONE advocating for him, and if he holds out, boss man gets someone else. In a second. No I WOULDN’T like to take less, because I barely make a living now! My yearly income is under 60k—quite a bit different than 28 million!

Quite different from Dak’s situation. Emmitt is right.

That said, I’m SO TIRED of debating this! I’m to the point where I don’t care what they do. Just do SOMETHING, and we’ll live with it! No matter what happens, 7 billion Chinese just don’t give a ****!

You notice that players like brady and even our Jaylon Smith are signing reasonable contracts. I believe brady has a company and the pats use his company and pay him additional money that way. And Jaylon and JJ have a deal that he is being able to open a cryo company at the star. So pretty sure JJ will use his company for the team and pay him additional money. It’s a way for smart owners to get money to these players with it being on the cap. Dak should talk to JJ about a start up company. Sign the dang 33 a year contract and his agent can make sure it’s packed with guaranteed money and signing bonus. Plus the endorsement money from being the QB of The Dallas Cowboys can be off the hook. His agent can make it happen. But I think it’s a peeing contest between these QB’s about out doing each other. He don’t deserve Wilson money when he has no SB ring. Heck goff made it to the SB. Dak hasn’t. The FO has to be telling him this. Give him his short term deal and if he helps us get a ring then when it’s time to reup his deal then pay the man.

Not really apples to apples. It's much easier to give a deal when you already have a net worth of $180 million like Brady does. Dak's current net worth is probably about $177 million short of that, so he naturally wants the payday. That said, my bet is that once he gets the payday he will be willing to restructure along the way to help the team the way Romo did and other QBs have done with other teams.

Love all the experts on what the man should do with his life. It is his career and he doesn't need advice from people who have nothing vested but the need to comment on this already run into the ground subject.

Do they even realize how lazy and pathetic that are to keep discussing it?

I don't care what they do. Sign him, trade him, let him walk just stop milking the media with this horse****.

I am sure. I saw a article a while back where he said with the gambling money coming into the game along with the new CBA that there was plenty of money to go around and they should all get there worth. I knew then as the leader of the team that he wasn’t taking a home town discount. And Elliot jumped out there first. Dak will get his money. I was just saying the players are finding ways to get them money without it being on the cap through using there businesses. I knew Dak wouldn’t consider the endorsements he get as The Cowboys QB as part of his pay. It’s just like a bonus for him.

I personally think he should push for a few million a year extra and give it to me. Just a thought.
