It's going to be different that what it sounds.

Sure we're not going to suspend you based on a drug test, but get stopped out in town or arrested and it'll be a different story.

That would be a dumb policy as the data clearly show disparities in arrests for weed that trend toward bias against a majority of NFL players.

It's funny that's a concession. (Not that I dont agree with you) What do they care in any event? They will still have conduct detrimental, so its not as if NFL players will be advertising their marijuana use. Its probably better for the leagues reputation to keep the subject out of the news altogether anyways, as opposed to so and so failed another drug test.
Great Avi dude lol, this season is hilarious if you’ve been watching

I agree that this is great and a long time coming.

Of course my real worry about this getting done is it means no transition tag this year. So the Cowboys will have to choose between Cooper and Dak.

The nfl may be using this to get something they want like more games etc.
I dont really care, but basically they should have to follow same rules as rest of people in america.
And better to avoid guys like gregory who couldnt pass a test to save his life, that isnt the type
of player you want. Also he has to be out of shape and out of the groove, he wouldnt be that good .

What would be the contract status of these two, if this new policy did pass?

That is a proposal from the NFLPA to the owners. The new CBA hasn't been approved so it's a little or way to soon to be proclaiming anything. Personally I don't think the league should agree with that. The courts have already ruled that even though it may be legal in some states that employers in those states can still have company policies the forbid the use of it and is legal grounds for either not hiring someone that tests positive or terminated for testing positive. People that are not in professional sports can legally take steroids but that doesn't mean the NFL shouldn't be able to ban that.
.
What's your beef with pot? What are you, 80?

The new policy also raises the threshold for positive tests (from 35 nanograms to 150), and eliminates suspensions strictly for positive tests.
Players now face suspensions for marijuana related arrests, but the days of the four-game suspension for a failed test would end with this deal.

Punchline: Don't get arrested.

This sounds like Gregory is clear.

In earlier reports, there was talk of suspension for *repeated* violations. I don't see that in the latest reports.

Here's a report only days ago mentioning "repeated violations".

"only in the event of extreme and repeated disregard of the policy"
I think Randy would have qualified for that one, if anyone.

Great. We need more potheads in Dallas.

Gregory was playing pretty well for us, and we have him on the cheap for the next two seasons.

Though I'm pretty sure we have no rights to Irving, and given that he washed out here, I'd expect we're not a likely destination for him.

The NFL owners are brilliant. They are putting pressure on the players to sign this owner and fan friendly deal that gives the majority of the players nothing but an extra game to play. If the players reject the plan the narrative out there would be the players are being greedy. Like I said in another thread Jerrah is not worried about paying Dak and Cooper right now. Their deals are peanuts compared to what the owners will get wth extra game and playoff teams from each conference. We talking billions baby!!!

Oh man. All the players are going to be on the sidelines eating Cheetos.....
They already are. The current policy was already a joke. I mean, the players only had to pass one test a year and they knew when it was going to be. The policy was really trying to identify addicts who showed they lacked the control to pass their one test with advanced warning.

Once players passed their one test, they were free to do all the recreational drugs they desired as long as they didn’t get busted by the law. They only got tested for performance enhancing drugs the rest of the year.
