I personally think the cowboys have done exactly what they should have done in Daks first 4 years in the league. It didn’t work.

Time to cut ties and wish each other good luck
Because Garrett was in charge.

Hit the lotto?

Hyperbole much? Look, Dak is good. But seeing him against tough competition, i.e. the Rams playoff game and, gee I dunno, the game in Philly with NFCE title implications...

That doesn't inspire me to pay the man 40 mil plus a year. See Kirk Cousins. Dak isn't as accurate as one would like, and doesn't use his legs enough either.

...and don't blame the coaching staff for this either. Craig Morton was "meh" too, and never audibled. Roger Staubach had the same crappy playcalling, but he was better, and he actually audibled.
You used the rams game where the offense only had the ball for 20 minutes because the defense got railroaded for almost 300 yards rushing. Really bruh? Everyone with any football sense knew the worst unit on the field that game was the defense by far. The fact we scored 22 points in that game was remarkable with how bad the defense played

And get absolutely nothing back from a guy you hit the lotto on in the 4th round and have only paid him 2.5 million over 4 years. My goodness we gotta start looking at the education systems in the south its scary

who do you think is interested in a trade? And for what? I can’t think of any teams looking to trade for a guy that wants $30m and lacks a lot of talent.

He is a good guy tho. And he says all the right things.

If it was just about economics , he would have signed last year. Now, there's feelings and pride mixed up in the whole negotiation. Dak isn't going anywhere near the cowboys training facility and has stated as much. He has also said he's not playing on a tag. So, he's either going to cave or eat some words.

In any case, the cowboys 2020 season is swinging in balance. The new coaches need time with Dak. Dak needs time to practice and improve. If this drags on into TC and beyond, Jerry will probably cave first and Dak knows it. Or, maybe the water is so poisoned at that point that his agent pushes for a trade. Dallas has 2 months to figure out a plan B.

where did Dak say he isn't playing on the tag? I haven't seen that anywhere.

Not committing to showing up doesn't mean he definitely won't show up. It simply means he's keeping all his options on the table. After July 15, the franchise tag can't be changed anyway so there's no point missing any actual games.

Dak has no "other options". He's going to get tagged which means he can either play for Dallas Cowboys or sabotage the 2020 season as Zeke was willing to do to get his money. Jerry isn't going to let that happen and ruin MM first season by leaving him with no QB. Dak and his agent know it and are negotiating accordingly. Dak's negotiating posture and demand to be paid like an elite QB are predicated on Jerry having a soft negotiating underbelly and the dallas cowboys having no other legit NFL QBs on the roster.

Lol, you said he has no options and then named his options (play or holdout). It isn't smart for him to commit to reporting when the threat of a holdout could be enough to get a deal done. That being said I still think he would play under the tag. It is a different scenario from Zeke for multiple reasons. He may not sign the tag immediately but he won't miss any actual games.

You would have to get something, anything. Realistically though he's going to be paid and be the QB for a very long time. Have way more faith in Dak than I ever did in Romo so there's that.

I didn’t bring up romo but you did for some reason......but anyways romo never won anything and neither will the cowboys if the dak gets a pay raise of any kind

Stephen is obvioustly determined to keep Dak's cost to a minimum, although, the cards now favor Dak getting close to what he wants in the long run. I think Stephen expected him to be more reasonable when the negotiations began. Despite that, Dak chose to make the most of his opportunity. It'll be settled eventually but the team will likely have to be generous, like it or not.

determined huh? Is that why wentz and Goff are locked up and dak isn’t?
They are determined to part ways with dak and keep the dak fans from blaming them

The fact that Stephen is determined to keep the Dak contract to a minimum doesn't necessarily mean it will happen. They still want him as their QB, by the looks of things, though. Whether he becomes a recipient of the franchise tag or not, I expect he'll remain a Cowboy until other arrangements make it otherwise. So far, that hasn't happened yet. Don't count your chickens before they're hatched, my friend. It's not over yet -- and the fat lady is yet to sing. Dak will be back in 2020, by the looks of things, imho. Beyond that is anyone's guess.

I hear ya.

just waiting for to hear a reason that makes sense to run the same team out there but pay the qb an extra $30m instead of simply upgrading the qb position and spending the money elsewhere

I agree. Should have done something last year, then could tag Cooper if needed. Say what you want about Wentz and Goff, but those teams got the contracts done.

so do you think the cowboys will be better if one position on last years 8-8 team gets a $30+million dollar pay raise? Or if they draft that position at equal or prob above the current talent, and upgrade the defense in free agency?

I think asking the #1 coach available to come here knowing dak is about to handcuff the team wouldn’t happen unless said coach was gonna take some heat off Jerry as far as dak goes. Obvious reasons why it’s hard to move on from dak.
I say we go all in on tua.
Tampa isn’t dumb enough to get rid of jameis since they surround him with nothing, but he is my 2nd guy.
Jordan love be my 3rd.
Cam newton on 1 year deal, if healthy and not playing scared, is my #1.

we need some legit talent at qb. Whether it’s running or not. This dak crap has got to end

Also....
Even tho I’m against dak getting any pay raise at all, who do you think the cowboys would be competing with in free agency if they told dak to go shop himself? I can’t think of any teams looking for a guy like him besides us, and we need to upgrade obviously.
Nothing would piss me off more than dak getting a pay raise Realizing nobody will pay him.
And then getting a 12m a year contract.
That’s a $10m raise for no upgrade. That’s like taking your truck to the shop and giving them $5k dollars and picking it up and nothing has been done to your truck.

Agree.

For obvious reasons. Goff beat our *** in the playoffs. And wentz beat us with all backups to go to playoffs.

dak fans need to get wentz and Goff out of their heads. No comparison. There is a huge talent gap.
