What part of East Texas are you in? AP played 9 miles north and tomorrow is Jeff Wilson day here in town. We are having a parade!
I was in Dallas at that time and he was the stud of the state. Hell, he was bigger than most NFL RB's as an 18 year old so the NFL's "body not ready for the rigors of the NFL" is BS. They just didn't want to piss off college in general and OU specifically.

I think it's a joke. If they're going to let the NBA basically gut college basketball, why not the NFL? A lot of these kids need the money to help their families and 3 years in the NFL vs in college, getting nothing but experience, could be a boon to them. With the preponderance of Sports Management majors, I don't think the business world is missing out on a bunch of scholars.

This is wishing thinking but I've used to dream of this scenario for the last 3 years now. I didn't expect Dak to have the year he's had this past season, so reality started to sink in once we went 3-0 averaging 30 points a game at the beginning of the season.

I'll tell you this, Anybody who thinks Herbert is better than Tua hasn't watched college football in the past 3 years. Herbert is another Mike Glennon to me and will be a non factor 4 years from now.

Sorry folks, but semi-lighting up the Pac 12 secondaries isn't the same as lightning up the SEC secondaries. Other than height, this kid doesn't move the needle for me.

I look at Herbert and see the second coming of Leaf. Big with a strong arm but I didn't see it in all of the Ducks games I watched. I kept waiting to see it and it just didn't appear. I wanted to see it because he stayed at OR to get better. Eason might have the better pro career than Herbert and he's the same exact size and he might be there at 17.

The first time I saw Tua, Mahomes came to mind because of the delivery. It's that unusual delivery that the baseball guys seem to have, Wilson has that same thing, that flick and the ball is on it's way from weird arm angles. They're the perfect QB's for catching DB's with their heads turned.

I would like to have Tua but not at the cost of picks, especially with these pickers, they need to be as high as possible. The last good draft was 2016, when they picked 4th.

I lived in Plano until 2009. Came here to be closer to my son. I agree with you. This is one of the poorest areas of the state. The poorest I've lived in for sure. A lot of these kids see sports as a way up and out.

In just the 35 mile stretch between Crockett and Palestine has produced AP, Jeff Wilson, and Eugene Lockhart.

Most of these QB's aren't falling flat on their face now days. What gets them in trouble is they go to teams that don't protect them and ask them to throw too much when they aren't ready.

I have concerns about Herbert but i'm all in on his talent as a player.

I love this draft class for QB's. Even Eason is a interesting prospect. The guy just makes incredible throws but he is not very mobile.

I just think he lacks some downfield accuracy and I hate that he didn't play under center much.

But he's athletic and fits the current day NFL prototype QB perfectly.

Tua smelled like an NFL bust to me before he got hurt.

No thanks.

I think if you're shooting for the moon with Tua I think he could be the next Steve Young, a more mobile Brees, Russell Wilson with a better passing skill set.

Mahomes is just on another planet when it comes to talent.
Tua could also be injury prone. You never know but I would be happy with another Steve Young. I would probably draft Burrow if I was the Bengals.

I would draft Burrow too because he's healthy.

If Tua was healthy.. I'd hate to have to make that pick.

Tua is a safe choice and Burrow only had 1 good year but what it year it was.

Burrow also lacks a little arm strength but he is accurate, can read defenses, he's tall, and he can buy time in the pocket as well as run.

To me Burrow is a more athletic Tony Romo.

I watched Herbert a couple times this year, was underwhelmed. I think he is a late 2nd at best but someone will overspend, hopefully not Jerry.

Not surprising at all.
it's America's Team and just about every football family's dream growing up.
Many prospects will have the Cowboys stars sparking in their eyes.

But sorry, Tua, ..we already have our franchise QB guy here, and he will get paid and be here long term.

Based on what?

Intangibles? Check

Ability to read defenses and throw accurately? Check

Athleticism to go along with all of that? Check

Production in the SEC? Check

If I want to knock the guy my only concerns would be..

  • He doesn't have the biggest arm (not that it's weak it's just about like Burrows)
  • He played in an optimal environment
  • He's 6'1 (but QB's shorter then him have been doing ok)
  • He's gotten a couple of injuries

I see Steve Young ceiling / Russell Wilson / More athletic Drew Brees

Tua is just a natural for the position and if he goes to a team that can protect him he will hit the ground running and not look back once he is healthy.

As much as I love “Thor” Lawrence. Burrow outplayed him head to head with similar talent. My concern is he was a 4th round pick that could not beat out Haskins coming into the season. I would love him if he brought Brady with him to Cincinnati. Maybe Carolina can make that trade.

I wouldn't get caught up in that kind of stuff.

There could be a million reasons why tOSU went with Haskins over Burrow.

It's clear as day Burrow is a better NFL fit then Haskins.. Haskins may be good but Burrow has developed and is just a way better prospect.

I'm guessing that Haskins was probably a bigger highschool recruit and that factored into tOSU's decision.

When is the last time any QB played on a team with the highest rated OL and WR corps in the game, as well as secondary. And his run game was stellar, Edwards-Hellaire is as good as there was last year. Burrow had a miraculous boost with the addition of Joe Brady. He also had a miraculous season, unlikely to be duplicated.

Whichever of the teams gets him, he will not likely have any of that unless CAR trades up to get him. And I'd like to see them send that jerkwad Newton to the bowels of Ohio.

If I was picking a QB and didn't have to have him play this season, I would take my chances with Tua. I don't consider him injury prone as that hip one was a freak accident.

The problem with the season Burrow had, a team is skittish not to take him. And he is a native Ohioan.

But if you are CIN or MIA or LAC and need a QB, they really have to take one to keep their fans happy. It's one thing to not improve, something else not to even try. That's why DEN fans don't get down on Elway, it's not like he isn't trying to get a QB.

CIN would catch a lot of heat if they don't take Burrow.
