Brady has been taking discounts from the start and never insisted on a maxed out contract.
That's not entirely true, K. Brady accepted his biggest contract in 2010 where he counted 15% of his team's salary cap for the next several years (2010 - 2014).

Spin what you want but the discounts weren’t there from the start. The article projected Brady’s non-discounted years by keeping his rookie deal and first extension the same, so there was no discount on his first extension. He couldn’t command top dollar until he won multiple Super Bowls because he wasn’t an established QB like Bledsoe and Peyton Manning who were #1 overall picks. Brady was a sixth round pick and one Super Bowl win where he entered the season in relief wasn’t going to get him paid like Bledsoe and Manning. Brady wasn’t able to command top contracts until 2005 when he had won three Super Bowls and two Super Bowl MVP awards.
Spin? How in the world did you come to that conclusion. Those are the figures.

Seriously, dude, don't let your agenda color the facts. There was absolutely no spinning here done, none at all, just simple factual amounts. If the facts don't agree w/ your thinking, might be time to adjust your thinking.

In 05, Brady took 10 mil/season. Payton was already making more. Brady was established and had already won 3 super bowls.

Have you ever noticed that when someone accuses you of something(Spinning), it is often the case that they themselves are guilty of the accusation?

Ah, didn't look that far. The other poster claimed that he hadn't given discounts from the start, so I only looked at his first 3 contracts.

Sadly this forum is becoming reflection of social media, college campuses and certain segments of society. No respect or tolerance for critique or opposing views. Id like to think the majority here doesn't think that way here. I, for one, don't feel that way. There are many here I disagree with, but unless they break forum rules, I welcome their viewpoints
Same here. I have no one on ignore presently. Hold it.....there might be one, but I don't remember for sure.

Also, you see another facet being played out here that I see all over in media. Taking out of context, skewing meanings, and flat out lying. A standard answer I'm seeing used a ton on here is "Nuh uh". It appears to be the answer when one is too lazy to research and/or think about the issue.

Skip Bayless makes some real valid points. Say what you want about the guy. He's killing Sharpe in this argument.

#DontpayDak

a little loss, but not 30% less. couple of things as he considers this, that Texas doesn't have state taxes, so going to a CA or NY or some of the other states he would pay taxes....second as emmitt said, cowboys marketability....going to Miami or Jax wouldn't provide him as much marketing opportunities....

yeah, it's the dishonesty of the posters when debating that is seemingly increasing. I've started to do the same thing to posters who do that.

Check out what KJJ is doing in this very thread. I gave him facts and figures, and he accused me of spinning!!!!!!! Honestly, it was one of the strangest responses I've witnessed on here.

As great as Emmitt was, he should be the last person to question any player for wanting to get as much money as they can get. Emmitt in the last year of a contract sat out of camp and the 1st 2 games until the Cowboys gave him a new contract which incidentally made him the highest paid running back in the NFL.

Then Skip kept comparing Brady's last couple of contracts that came about after already putting in 14 season in and the accumulative amount of money he's made and how he didn't need any more money to Prescott who is coming off his rookie contract and what money he's made thus far. Skip and some here sound like socialists that are opposed to anyone that want to make as much money as they can.
.

Yep...how dare what could be a top 5 player in the HISTORY of the game, asked for top dollar of his time. Then tell an average QB of the times (who has won nothing) to take average money, and help keep a good team around him (that will help him succeed). What a moron.

I like the cut of your job, sir. A lot of people look for a media that suits their agenda and bias. They don't even go to the horses mouth (say directly from a politician in full) they just listen to someone lie and spin it so it sounds great to them. And they'll go down with the ship with it.
