I still disagree with this 17 games a year BS.

Biggest thing I would like to see is increased roster size and increase in players allowed to dress on game day. Better yet, increase roster size and allow the entire roster to dress each week.
If you have a 53 man roster, they should all be available on game day. That's why you pay them.

To have 8 guys inactive on game day makes no sense whatsoever. Ross Tucker made the same point on his Twitter feed.

Move the fourth preseason game that featured nothing but bubble players to the regular season. You knew this would eventually happen.

The 17 regular season games makes sense, but they need to drop preseason to 2 and give teams at least 2 bye weeks, preferably 3.
The extra game will mean teams won’t have to give up an home game and as well as having games played internationally, like London, Mexico... maybe Germany, Canada and even Japan... they’ll be able to play games in places currently without an NFL team, it would be great seeing games played in the big college stadiums.

Honestly I am surprised the NFL did not propose 18 games but 1 preseason game and 2 byes with a bye guaranteed before a TNF game. They would gain massive revenue with the extra regular season week and adding a second bye week does not hurt the TV revenue it only boosts it because they get one more week of NFL football.

I guess they probably got word the 18 game season would be DOA where the 17 game season may of had a shot.
Would preferred 18 over 17 but we'll see how this goes.

I like 3 & 17. Don’t like adding an extra team to the playoffs.

I dont like uneven numbers like 17 and 7 its weird..

but on the PS games a few teams play FIVE that has to stop anyway.. 3max no exhibition type as that counts toward 3..

I prefer 18 RS games 3 PS games and maybe 8 playoff teams I mean how are the brackets done with a 7th team who they playing themselves?

this is like the College football playoffs, 4 was way too little and they knew it now its fight to go to 6/8 which is needed, if I'm the NFL owners and Players, Im fighting for Full measures not half measures, go all the way or leave it alone.

The tricky part of this is that there is a lock of 250K on the game check for this additional game which means if you are a player making more than 4M per season, you get screwed. And if you make 4M+ a year are you more or less concerned about that extra game and what you are risking? If it's not a full game check, it's a bad deal.

Their union leaders are trying to sell them that this is a good thing and that reducing the pot testing by an undisclosed amount and taking away suspensions for what amounts to 1 out of 50 players, because they're too stupid to avoid getting caught, is a good deal.

First thing I do is start a movement to replace the union leadership, they're as bad as the sell outs they've had in the past.

And this playoff idea is just bad. It further favors the best record in each conference and puts a team in it that has no business being there. If a team can't make the top 6 out of 16, why do they deserve to be in the playoffs? So the league can make extra money on two additional playoff games.

I know I wouldn't work extra for less money. This isn't going to be agreed upon. The owners act like taking a preseason game away is this huge concession. Nope most of the regulars see 1/2 game at best. I love me some football but this reaks of owner greed its all about the benjamins. I thought I also heard the owner could push the 17 game part though aside from the CBA. 1 team gets home field and some teams have more away games

As long as they dont try nine home games on a year to year basis. That would be incredibly unfair.

Each team is going to need one neutral site game, and theres only so many they can stick in London since teams need a bye the week after.

They will need time to ready and promote these neutral site affairs.

I like the idea, since it may shut down the idea of a permanent team overseas, which was always absurd

Alternate 9-8. Lowest seed gets the 9? Not really sure how this will work. But I don't see a neutral site option happening.

I mean the 17th game.

So half the teams get 9 home games in a year and the rest 8? No good

I agree, I'm not sure how they'll work it out, but I don't really see a neutral field scenario. You think they would mention this in the proposal and how they plan on handling it?

It allows more games in London, Mexico City, maybe places like Tokyo.

Isnt Goodells only job to figure out how to milk more money out of the league?

I see places like Birmingham, Memphis, Portland, etc getting games.

Cant be having teams w uneven amounts of home games. How unfair is that just from an on the field perspective alone, forget about when the brats start fighting over money.

In the past they used the extra games request as a negotiation tactic. Back then they never expected it to happen. Even now I'm not certain if it's for negotiation purposes or if they're really intent on making it happen.

I can see them getting very close to an agreement and then giving up the extra game in exchange for whatever else they want that the NFLPA is resisting. Obviously the owners will take the extra game if it does not cost them any other concessions.

It doesn't seem to be the number of games holding everything up, its the pay. Players would receive $250,000 for the game 17. Some of these guys need that money. Others would be taking a pay cut and risking injury.

Pretty much set the 17th game means 8 home and 9 away for each team. That might be some of it since players out of the play-offs

Neutral sites is clearly on the table. Think it was Richard Sherman who feels the idea of the expanded schedule is to push the market into other markets like Mexico City and other markets in Europe.
