I am not surprised. just like the last time, its all about money on both sides. so the owners had to start low, the players will go high and in the end they will meet somewhere in the middle.

I know this could fall under conspiracy theory, but I am thinking the owners knew the players would reject and that they are expecting either a lock-out by them or a strike by the players. By approving the deal and letting the players reject it after details were made public, the owners are hoping to turn public sentiment against the players when there is a work stoppage by saying they approved a deal the players rejected. I could be off base on this, but really think this is the case.

it’s exactly what happened the last time. And that pressure with the looming lack of income from game checks resulted in players voting for the current CBA. The one where Roger Goodell can suspend people when he wants for however long he wants, based on nothing more then how he feels. The current CBA where the veterans are getting phased out by cheap rookies, and where weed is still being punished like it’s a performance enhancing drug

The same tactics aren’t going to work this time around. But we won’t know till next year now.

Like anyone should have expected them taking the 1st deal offered. That ain't the way it works.
It was not the first deal offered. It was the result of months of negotiation.

32 team reps still have to vote on it - could still go thru

:How do 32 NFL representatives only come up with 11 votes? It bet it gets 50% of the entire player vote. Most players don't make enough to sit out a strike and can use the extra income from the deal.

When was the first offer proposed?
The statement read, "Following more than ten months of intensive and thorough negotiations, the NFL Players and clubs have jointly developed a comprehensive set of new and revised terms that will transform the future of the game, provide for players -- past, present, and future -- both on and off the field, and ensure that the NFL's second century is even better and more exciting for the fans.

"The membership voted today to accept the negotiated terms on the principal elements of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Players Association would also need to vote to approve the same terms for there to be a new agreement.

Obviously it was not unaminous

Ah... thank you!
Technically this is still the first offer proposed, but they've been working on it together for some time to get to this point.

Do I understand it correctly that the NFLPA reps which negotiated the deal don’t think it should be ratified by the players? Isn’t that internally contradictory or am I missing something?

And so what QB should Dallas go for if there is no 2020 season due to a strike?
