Hope 4 and 5 pan out. Witten needs to retire if he cant take a back seat.

I agree. I think he can still contribute in a part-time, backup role, but if he can't accept that? He needs to go entirely as that attitude would hurt the team.

Hope Quinn works a deal for his return.

I'm optimistic that both sides can see the value in sticking together and a deal gets done.

I'll take Dez but no babysitters and 1 strike rule on his behavior on and off the field.

Same here. Zero tolerance policy. He chirps or acts up once, and it's goodbye your career is totally done now.

1 and 3 JJ and nepotistic FO are so frikin out of touch with how to run a competitive organization, it's sick He's a pitiful excuse for a "GM".

When you can't be fired, it tends to support incompetence and under-performing, especially in an NFL where you 'can't lose'.

Agree on Chido but he's a microcosm or a bigger issue on the defense which is lack of talent in other positions and under coached.

I hope that one of the issues was a disconnect at the three levels of the defense in having essentially two defensive coordinators and that with that no longer the case, the unit will be more cohesive. But I think the secondary takes a step back before they take one forward.

  1. If that's accurate, it sounds like unwarranted, undeserved arrogance from whoever sent it. Your team has disappointed and made bad decisions for years pal, you don't get to do 'smug'.
  2. Chido always seems to be 'in the area', but always seems to be that fraction of a step behind or too late.
  3. The Joneses mishandle negotiations? Say it ain't so!
  4. That sounds pretty definitive. And it sounds like he'll have to humble himself to play in 2020 but it doesn;t sound like Witten is ready to do that.
  5. Quinn is #3 on my list of priorities after Dak and Amari. They have to keep him to field anything near a competent defensive line.

While Witten and Dez were Cowboys icons, but both had the same problem. Both of them refused to see themselves as anything less than they were at the top of their game, and that is quite simply, pure folly.

Their egos prevent(ed) them from being realistic enough to accept that if they could have accepted a lesser role, that the team could have accommodated their desire to play a bit longer.

Neither of them give you that option. Witten is just as much of a selfish player as Dez was.

The time for both of them has come and gone.

Bring back Quinn and sign Harrison or a Reader at DT. Front four is solid

Harrison was awful last year, couldn't get playing time on an awful Lions defense, and will be 32 next season. He even considered retiring and then backtracked.. I would pass and draft a DT early.

Detroit lions DT possibly Damon (snacks) Harrison

Snack is 31 years of age, just been released by Lions- who he was so ill-fit in their 3-4 scheme. and he's not near as immovable and disruptive as he used to be in his
prime with the Giants in their 4-3 back then, (ala 2016)

..with his age and non- productive year in 2019, i'm not sure he'd be on Stephen Jones radar.
maybe a 1 year deal at best - I think he could be a last resort at the least, and of course Stephen is gonna low- ball offer, if he does have any interest in him....

I thought making a bid for Ravens' run stuffer Michael Pierce (age 27) - but 'd be concerned that he'd be out priced by Stephen's term.
Ditto with CJ Reader of the Texans.

Dak's team upped his price after the 3-0 start.

What a bunch of brats, if this is true. Using the conflated results of three abysmal teams to up their "requirements", and then he goes on a 6+ game slide, and they (presumably?) would not come back down?

I also definitely think some blame lies with the Jones boys but if the Prescott camp upped the demands after a 3-0 start when both parties were close, that's a ****** move and I don't really mind the Jones' hitting the pause button here.

You can never really tell what goes on in matters like this, but often times, but it seems that the biggest impasse to any of this stuff has largely come from the Prescott camp, not the other way around.

And as people can attest, I am far from a Jones family apologist. But I just get the impression that Dak's camp has been pretty tough to deal with.

I'd be willing to bet Dak's camp didn't lower their demands after bad games......funny how that works. I'd be pissed off too and that is odd because in general I am a Dak fan and not really a fan of the Jones' overall.

Byron and Witten are probably gone. Quinn probably back as long as his market doesn't get too crazy.

That leaves us needing a corner, safety, DT, and another TE to go with Jarwin.
