I never said the water boy thing or actually using during a game. The point I've made a couple of times is players could smoke some weed BEFORE they go to practice or meetings or a game.

I didn't find the article I first look at but it only took a couple of seconds to find this one that does state there are long term memory problems and problems with the motor functions which is reflexes.

Here's the snippet about marijuana from your link. Note that the long term effects "may" cause memory loss if consumed at an early age. Nothing definitive just "mays" and "cans".

Marijuana is the most regularly used illicit drug in the United States, and its use is especially common among adolescents and young adults, NIDA reports. The psychoactive chemical in marijuana, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (TCH), interacts and binds with cannabinoid receptors in the brain, producing a mellowing and relaxing effect. Regions of the brain with high concentrations of cannabinoid receptors are heavily impacted. One such part of the brain, the hippocampus, manages short-term memory, meaning that marijuana use can impede recollection of recent events. Additional regions of the brain that are impacted include the cerebellum and basal ganglia, which help to control coordination and involuntary muscle movements respectively. When someone abuses marijuana, impaired motor skills, mood alterations, distorted time and sensory perception, decreased memory, and trouble thinking clearly and solving problems are all common short-term side effects. Marijuana also interferes with levels of dopamine in the brain, causing the euphoric “high” that users document. Marijuana also has several long-term side effects on the brain, which are especially prevalent in individuals who use the drug before the brain is fully developed. NIDA warns that marijuana use in adolescence, and continued on into adulthood, may result in a loss of IQ points that are not recoverable even with abstinence. Also, initiating marijuana use before turning age 18 raises the risk for addiction as an adult. As many as 30 percent of those who use marijuana will suffer from addiction to the drug, and the risk is increased 4-7 times when use begins before the age of 18. As a person ages, neurons in the hippocampus are naturally lost, and marijuana use may speed up this process, leading to memory problems. Impaired coordination, learning issues, and sleep problems can result from long-term marijuana use and its impact on the brain. NIDA also reports on the possible link between marijuana use and the onset of psychosis and psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia in those who are genetically vulnerable. Breathing and respiration problems, chronic cough, and bronchitis are additional possible consequences of chronic marijuana smoking. Marijuana use can also disrupt heart rhythm and normal cardiac functions.

Exactly, Gregory is a freak of nature and that is why they spent a late 2nd on a guy who was that much of a gamble. Gregory could stay in bed for the next five years, step on the field the next day and still put pressure on the QB. Gregory backing up Quinn at RDE would be a dominant pairing.
I completely agree. Love the pair of Quinn and Gregory especially late in the season and possibly into the playoffs. I think David Irving would be able to do the same, if he has the want to do it.

Imagine getting a team behind and they have to pass and we go to a DL of Lawrence, Irving, Gregory, Quinn rushing the passer........

Randy has been away from the game for too long. Him getting reinstated is not big news. The new CBA however, is big news and it will help other players. The players union better not take too long to approve this agreement. Football in 2021 will be so much better.

Fortunately he's still young. He has a chance at least.

how has he been away too long? he's been away a year. no different than an injury
He was gone a long while before that year as well. As I've already said, I'd give him a shot but I have no expectations for him.

In 2018 he played in 14 games, recording 25 combined tackles, six sacks (second on the team), and two forced fumbles. The Cowboys had a 6-0 win record in games where Gregory registered a sack. Not to mention, he is still on his rookie contract.

I was born at night but it wasn't last night. I was around in 2018. I don't know why you are rehashing things that we all know about and experience. It suggests to me that you just like talking down to me and you are daring me to say something about it so you can bench me.

Gregory is a pretty damn good pass rusher. Whatever marijuana rules sea change gets him back on the field is A-Ok with me. I actually laugh to myself about American societies hangups about marijuana. I remember people used to laugh up their sleeves about stories of old NFL greats out on the town lapping up booze the night prior to historic NFL contests - but these same types of hypocritical *******s get all squiggly when the abused substance is marijuana (which as a periodic afficionado of either - i'd have to say marijuana use is, outside of the judicial system in our fair country, the less problematic of the two vices by a pretty fair margin).

Yeah, that is not Randy's ONLY issue - but so what? We're all imperfect in our own ways and live in the second-best of all worlds. This dude can rush a QB and that is his armor. The weed use is only a small chink in that armor - and much the smaller chink once the NFL gets past it's Nixonian hangups RE the substance.

Gregory is a very good talent with little wear on his body (besides the lungs). He is also grown now. We want him back if he is available.

You are confusing what's legal with what law enforcement will allow you to get away with as long as you are cool about it. I'm not just neighbors with a deputy sheriff, we are friends. We've talked about that blurred line that police don't normally cross as long as appearances are on the up and up. We have an understanding, I won't rat him out for having some guns in his collection without serial numbers and he won't arrest me if I self medicate after mowing the yard. Now mind your own business, narc.

So much of legal writ is a result of the influence of corporate and marketplace standing and it's monetary influence on the legislative process. Always be dubious and follow the money trail. Marijuana, were it legal, would threaten the standing of many a drug merchant of standing... be it Phizer, Merck, et al.

Why would they allow you to purchase something nature provides freely - when they can synthesize something far less beneficial, with many more unintended side-affects... but at ten-times-the-price?

Dupe-a-dupe-a-dupe.

First: Most players are probably not getting high during the game. Second: The NFL is shooting players up with Toradol, Ketorolac, and Marcaine. All of these drugs can cause headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, etc... All of which seem detrimental to playing a high impact sport. On top of that, these drugs can mask concussion symptoms and result in more damage being done to a muscle, ligament, etc.
Given the fact that I don't smoke, I could care less either way... but weed seems like a pretty insignificant thing for the NFL to worry about.

PS. Let's be honest. Most jobs don't test for weed because it affects the employees work performance. They test for weed because their insurance won't pay a claim if the employee has an accident and is found with it in their system.
Don't forget about possible kidney and liver damage...

Massive massive massive upgrade over Quinn.

Quinn will give you 10 sacks a year but the other 500 plays he's getting demolished by the LT and they're running the ball through a hole the size of the Ozone layer - the guy is flat out terrible. He's the Kyle Kuzma of football.

When I was between 18-20 I smoked it a few times. I never smoked it again and I put in bold the reasons why. The bold practically shut down on me. But that's me. I also know a lot of people where that isn't the case with them. They manage just fine. Over the years I've come to realize those that have similar reactions to mine simply don't smoke it anymore. The one's that do simply don't have that reaction. So yeah, it's a bunch of "cans" and "Mayhaps".

I'm talking about the benefits of cannabis, for pain relief, treatment of PTSD, treatment of seizures. I never said go smoke a joint and then get in a car and drive. I don't know of any studies that prove long term affects on memory and slow reflexes. Temporary maybe. You must think I'm advocating that during timeouts the water boys bring out Gatorade and joints. Don't try and change the narrative to try and prove a point.
This fool has to move the goal post to make a point. Otherwise, he has no point to make. No one was talking about recreational use but he has to include that to have any point. He's the all-time champ of the strawman argument.
