Dual threat QB, how many are really out there? How many of these so called dual threat QBs i.e Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott, Russell Wilson even go as far as to say Josh Allen even Carson Wentz. How many are REALLY dual threat? And what makes them so? Completion percentage? Rushing yards? Or Rushing TDs? Maybe even buying time in the pocket? Scrambling per say. Anyways how many do y’all think there Really are? And name the top 3

1. Patrick Mahomes 2. Russell Wilson 3. Lamar Jackson some close but not good enough runners for me are Josh Allen, Wentz, Dak. I left kyler off the list only because I haven’t seen enough of him yet as far as passing. Although I do think he is elite in that category. Another guy I left off is cam newton I just don’t think he is duel threat his passing abilities are iffy at best.

IMO, the latter ones you mention are more like decent scramblers than dual threat QBs. For instance, Dak can make a play now and then in open space, and he can often outrun a defender long enough to extend the play for a receiver to get open, but he's not someone other teams fear will run all over them.

IMO a dual threat QB is someone who is an effective passer and an effective runner/scrambler, who affects/hurts/changes the defense.

Jackson, Mahomes, Murray, Wilson, Newton, Rodgers, Prescott, Wentz all fit the bill.

Josh Allen has run for 1,141 yards and 17 TDs in two years. Not to mention he shredded us, he probably fits the bill as well. (though not as proficient as a passer as the names you mentioned at this point).

Lamar Jackson redefined the term "dual-threat" QB. There is just him and Mahomes on that level. Russell Wilson used to be in that category as well but he is becoming more of a pocket passer since his paycheck has required him to play a more conservative game. Kyler Murray is trying too hard to be a pocket passer when he has the natural ability to be a dual-threat QB as well. Kingsbury needs to unleash that beast. Dak is not a dual-threat QB. He is a pocket passer with great escapability. Wentz, lol. Wentz is too fragile to be a dual-threat. He is always on the verge of being knocked out of the game. Cam Newton has been too injured to fairly say what he is now.

What? Dak is not a dual-threat QB? Let's take a look...

Dak is definitely a dual-threat QB. He simply has not run with the football as much lately because Garrett was doing to Dak what Garrett did to Romo...and that is to take away his running attack (or limit it) while turning Dak more into a pocket passer.

Make no mistake, though, Dak certainly is a dual-threat QB and can run much more with the football if allowed to.

I'll buy that.

I think Trubisky and Daniel Jones can do some of those things as well, but aren't the passers like the ones you mentioned though

We got a triple-threat QB: passer, runner, cap-killer. (jk)

:huh::laugh::angry::thumbup:
Dak has had less than a million cap hit almost every year he has been in the league so how is that a cap killer?..........I understand you put "jk" but just curious

The kid from Oklahoma (Jalen Hurts) is projected to go late 3rd round. He's more dual threat than what is on the current roster

If he fell into the 4th I'd be interested.

LOL, anybody can cherry-pick plays and make a highlight reel of any player and make them look like something they are not. Dak is not a pocket passer and after he gets paid, Mike McCarthy is going to have a whole new conservative playbook to make sure he's not a "run-first" guy.

Dual threat doesn't mean anything if you're going to get injured. Lamar is not a dual threat, he needs to run to make that offense work. Buying time in the pocket is all a QB needs to do. John Elway is a good example. Reminds me of Mahomes. Passing is your primary skill, but if you get into trouble you can move around a bit. Also Randall Cunningham for those old enough to remember.

Ok. What's wrong with Dak being a pocket passer first? You'd rather have Lamar Jackson whose best attribute is running like a RB but sucks as a passer?

Maybe you should put this in the College Zone forum. Until this pizz ant has done something in the NFL, no one gives a crap.
