Mississippi State produces some dawgs for the NFL and Slay is the perfect CB to fix this defense's biggest issue TURNOVERS!

He also ran 4.36 40 yard at the combine!

Some notable Dawgs from MSSTATE:
Dak Prescott
Fletch Cox
Chris Jones
Preston Smith
Darius Slay
K.J. Wright
etc etc

Darius Slay's combine was many years ago. He's now 29 years old, on the downside of his career and highly unlikely to come cheaply.

It's likely also fair to say he's somewhat slower now. We'd probably do better bringing in a highly promising youngster early in the draft.

Why does everyone think he will take less than Jones? Crazy talk. He won't.

I think he has had quite a few injuries the past few years. Missing from 1 to 4 games here and there.
Price too high, and as someone said, just bring back Jones instead.

I would have no problem doing this if we let a certain someone walk. But I have a feeling the OP would not be on board with that. We could get him and keep Byron.

why? we traded for cooper and now he maybe gone...1.6 year of service. now you suggest to get Slay who may do the same...

in the meantime half this board is arguing about Dak's contract and how it will break the team and we want to give up valuable draft picks only to have them for a year and then pay them through the nose..... why not look in this draft, which is deep at WR...we got Gallup....why not draft a WR in the 2nd...

Nope.

If monster DT Javon Kinlaw is gone by the time the Cowboys are up at #17...

Trade down several spots into the mid 20s and either get an extra 2nd round pick or an extra 3rd and 4th.

Then use that mid-20s 1st round pick on TCU CB Jeff Gladney.

I actually think that’s not a bad idea or even trading up a couple of spots to get a WR if cooper don’t work out or even go up and get kinlaw

draft however is stacked with good corners and WR

The front office would get "slayed" for making that trade, and rightfully so. OP must be Delarius:laugh:

You have to elite CBs

You got pay someone eventually, and I rather pay a CB that is big, fast and creates turnovers.

I say stay the course I listed... if Kinlaw is long gone before the Cowboys #17th pick. Trade down to the mid 20s and pick up CB Jeff Gladney from TCU as I previously mentioned while picking up either an extra late 2nd... or 3rd & 4th round picks. Then use one of those 3rd round picks along with our natural mid-2nd round pick to move up early into the 2nd round and draft this WR from Arizona State: Brandon Aiyuk, 6'1", 215 lbs, 4.40 40, great hands, great route runner, burst, speed and runs like a RB after the catch since he was a RB in high school before converting to WR in college. Imagine him teamed up with Michael Gallup? Amari Cooper could become expendable in 2021, and the team would not hurt so much with Gallup and Aiyuk in place to become the next youth duo at WR.

Then use our original mid-3rd round pick to get this Dline sleeper in DT Trevon McSwain: 6'5", 285 lbs, David Irving clone.

The lions don't want to pay him and their secondary is worse than ours. Why would we give up a 2nd round pick AND pay him? I'd rather pay Byron Jones, save some money, and keep the pick.
If you're trying to reason with a millennial you might as well give it.......they can't count back change at McDonald's unless the cash register tells em how much to give back.

So give up a pick AND pay an exorbitant amount? Might as well pay Jones and keep our pick.

He wants a new contract which is why he is on the trade block. We can afford Byron Jones hence we cant afford Slay.
