Sad part is that it's been going on under the GM's nose for this long. If any of us we're asked to coach the DC at that pay level, I imagine 99% of us would follow in JG's footsteps. He was a puppet for JJ (the sox to jocks owner) to coach from his perch in his stadium. We'd all like to think we're good at what we do and JG probably thought he could be successful despite his own shortcomings and the FO that has no clue but failed. I don't blame JG for trying. He's probably much happier now in his gig in the shadows, out of the spotlight. Will certainly add a little more to the games against the NYG.

I think Jerry got stuck on a grand vision of an ex player from the 90's dynasty coming back to coach the team to greatness and becoming the next Landry. Garrett was the only available option that was coming up the coaching ranks and could fulfill that dream scenario. Jerry was fixated on that being his final legacy and he held onto it until the end making excuses for Garrett and trying to manipulate the coaching staff to prop Garrett up. Garrett is likeable but not a leader of men and is just not a championship caliber NFL head coach. He is simply too stubborn or incapable of change and adapting which makes him easily outcoached in late season and playoff games where everything is on the line. He also is undeniably incapable of getting a team mentally prepared and focused for a sustained run to a championship. Too many distractions and loose ends that he was never able to get under control and put an end to. It probably wasn't all his fault but he wasn't man or coach enough to fix any of it.

Yes, for far too long, Jerry held onto the picture he had in his head of Garrett becoming 'his Landry" and coaching for twenty years. In the process, wasting a decade of this franchise and many players careers.

I will say that things might have turned out much differently if the transition went from Parcells to Sean Payton when it could have, that timing really hurt this franchise. But Jones got it totally wrong on Garrett, he isn't and never was head coaching material.

His legacy will be one of disappointment and underachievement, a team that often had the talent, but never played up to it due to deficiencies in coaching. That doesn't make him a bad person, just a bad head coach.

I think it's worse than that. I think he's incapable of coaching at an NFL level.

I think part of his problem is the same mistake you see in a lot of old coaches. They stubbornly stick to their own systems that the rest of the NFL has evolved beyond...that's why a lot of coaches have a shelf life..the refuse to adapt.

I completely agree.

As good as Parcells was, he got that way toward the end. He knew it himself and that's why he ultimately walked away from coaching. We got the tail end of his run.

And we've dealt with it defensively for years now. First with Monte Kiffin, when everyone had passed his Tampa-2 by, and then with his buddy Rod Marinelli.

Just watch how they do it.

They run their mouth like they're experts and know everything and then they "post less" after they totally embarrass themselves and render everything they have to say from that point forward as meaningless and without merit. But even then, they blame it on "negativity" or anyone other than themselves. Zero personal accountability and the complete inability to ever admit that they were wrong. It's becoming a more and more common character defect.

Or else no one else here is as obsessed with Garrett as you are. Your post implies that there were posters here saying Garrett shouldn't be fired, can you link to them? Because in the real world that never happened.

Really? And yet here you are, yet again. Exposing yourself.

I imply no such thing. Do better than trying to create a strawman argument.

I think you overthought this thing about Jerry’s Dream. Simple fact is that Garrett met Jerry’s prime requirement: submission. Garrett never stood up to Jerry - from picking his assistant coaches, contradicting him publicly, criticizing him publicly, etc... Jerry wanted no Jimmy Johnson in the way this time to raise any question about Jerry being the football guy solely responsible for a championship. Plus, Garrett was largely invisible during the glory years except for one thanksgiving game.

You did, but you will never admit that.

So you lie about something that didn't happen and then double down on it? Classy.

So be specific, who embarrassed themselves and on what points?

I'll call you out specifically. You've made a career out of defending the clown and looking dumb. Look down at the bottom of every post you're making for proof and that sig line you're currently saddled with.

The fact is that you're incapable of dealing with anything critical of 'your Cowboys' in any way and you lose your **** when anyone does.

Just because you're a fan of something doesn't require you to lose your damn mind and any semblance of rationality.

Some people realized that Jason Garrett wasn't head coaching material years ago. Some Super Fans like you still can't admit it. Those of us who do know have a decade of futility and disappointment as our evidence, and the fact that the guy was just 'relieved of his duties' or whatever they need to call his termination. You guys? Nothing. Just continued embarrassment and humiliation.

There were a few. Toward the end, you didn't hear much from them any more.

No, now they spend most of their time lurking in disgrace. But that's better than having to read their tired crap any longer.

But there's still one or two fools still hanging around trying to diss "Fat Mikey" (the guy with the Super Bowl ring) while somehow still trying to make excuses for the 10-year failure of the Jason Garrett era. All the while failing to realize that the only thing they succeed in doing is looking like idiots, whose every word and comment is rendered as worthless.

The Sig Line bet is also that Garrett will have a HC job next year and most people here said he wouldn't work in the NFL ever again.

You are the guy that said Garrett should have been fired after the 2016 (EDIT) season where the team went 13-3 and he won Coach of the Year. An objective person wouldn't say that is me "defending a clown", they would say that is you being "borderline psychotic".

He's gone and most wanted him gone, a very large majority, can we just let him go?

And please, if you're going to use former players as authorities, don't pick one stupid enough to get caught twice with a load of pot in the same van in the same area just weeks apart and a guy the was a reality show football player.

Part of the reason some wanted him gone was they were tired of talking about him. How can we miss him if y'all won't let him go?

Blaming a lack of execution and inconsistent play solely on the HC is one of the dumbest ideas in a long time. If they played at a high level at all, did they not prove they were capable of that? And what about Parcells failure, did he scar the team as well.

Former players blaming coaching, what a revelation.

1 down, 1 to go...

and most people here said he wouldn't work in the NFL ever again.

More **** you make up as facts and run with it?

Show me where "most people" said any such thing. I'll wait. It's funny that you try to claim what others are "implying" and then come off with totally inaccurate and unsupported statements like this. Notice your own hypocrisy at work here?

You are the guy that said Garrett should have been fired after the 2015 season where the team went 13-3 and he won Coach of the Year.

Really? I seem to remember a 4-12 record in 2015, when Romo wasn't there to bail him out, Garrett was exposed for the fraud he is...

Let me guess, this is yet the latest thing you've gotten totally wrong?

An objective person wouldn't say that is me "defending a clown", they would say that is you being "borderline psychotic".

Do you actually think you're the person anyone looks to for the definition of "objective"?
Guess again!

There's an easy way for you to "let him go" if that's what you feel the need to do.

Plenty of other threads where something else is being discussed.
