A season too late as he screwed up Blake Jarwin's development as well as costing the Cowboys $4.25M in cap space which they could have used towards signing SS Ha-Ha Clinton Dix (signed a 1-year $3.5M contract with Chicago) and had the following stats:

16 Games 78 Tackles 5 PDef's 2 Int's 1 TD

Yet another poor financial decision by Dallas.
They had plenty of $$$ to sign Dix, had nothing to do with Witten coming back, they had no interest in him plain and simple.

Lot of salty posters on this site, lol.

Yes if only that scrub Blake Jarwin was the starter last year everything would’ve been different!

Delusions abound.

Only if he takes a reduced role. He could be useful but it’s time to get Jarwin some good snaps.

Time to move on from Jason Qwitten. So many forgot how quickly he dropped this team the minute he got a new cushy job with a new set of hair.

He’s in his mid-30s and his game has clearly declined, you certainly can’t blame him for taking on the Monday Night Football job. By the way I don’t consider retiring quitting. So many forget how great a player he was for this organization. He played with a broken jaw and was always available. As soon as a great player declines this fan base begins to disrespect them. Aikman got booed at the end of his career. It’s pretty obvious how frustrated this fan base has become with the lack of success the team has had the past 2+ decades.

It’s time for them to find a true difference maker at the position and stop trying to turn crap into gold. Jarwin is nothing special.
We don’t know because he isn’t getting the snaps. I seen him make good plays in his limited role. Including a 3 td game against the giants. I have no problem with drafting or bringing in vet either.

He's better than Witten hands down, and the slow poke was only halting his development.

If Jarwin was what some fans think he is he would’ve kept Witten on the bench. He’s not a complete TE and doesn’t show up every week. It’s not like he hasn’t been given an opportunity. Had he stepped up and taken control of the position in 2018 when Witten was in the Monday Night Football booth, Witten probably wouldn’t have come back. Without Witten in 2018 all Jarwin produced was 27 catches for 307 yards. Dalton Schultz provided little to nothing. That’s what prompted Witten to come back.

Possibly untrue.

In a footrace, Witten would most likely beat Jarwin. Funny stuff.

Also the fact that the tight end position has been shallow in the last few years or so. You got threeish elite guys (Kelce,Kittle,Ertz-slightly declining), a few up and comers (Henry/Hooper/Andrews/Waller/Goedart), then a whole bunch of average to good. Even in the draft there's no 1st round worthy TE, we probably won't see any taken till round 3. Jarwin and a rook to develop or solid vet is about as good as you can ask for with the options available in today's game.

TE in fantasy these past few years has been a crapshoot lol, very top heavy position group.

There is a TE invited to the combine named Wilcox I think. I am keeping a eye out for him. Supposed to go in later rounds and owns most TE records.

He probably wanted another 1 year free ride to get that franchise TD record like he tried last year.

Yup, there's a few late round guys who could hit big. I like Adam Trautman, 6'5" 250 and he's been getting alot of combine attention from the Pats and they know their TE's

The man gave everything to this team and you are trashing him because he decided at the time it was best for him to walk away? There were LOTS of people wanting him to retire when he did. It amazes me how fast some can turn on a player "just because". My bet is YOU were one of those people wanting him gone when he did retire!
This guy sat here and said how he lives, sleeps and is football. How he won't stop till he helps bring the trophy home, it's in the dirt, gave my all blah blah blah, then a ****** cushy TV job from BSPN comes along and he runs out of here during the second day of the draft after dragging it out for 2-3 days. YES, HE'S A SELLOUT!

That shows Witten is a lot smarter than you. You mean to tell me if you were an aging, declining player who had played 15 years in the NFL and was offered a lucrative once in a lifetime opportunity to broadcast games in the Monday Night Football booth that you would have passed it up for one more mediocre season where you would have lost snaps to a younger player? It’s obvious Witten didn’t want retire from football after the 2017 season but he had to make a very difficult decision. He would have lived to regret not taking the Monday Night Football job. He would have had a big “what if” hanging over his head the rest of his life had he not taken that job.

By giving broadcasting a shot and not having it work out he won’t have any regrets. Monday Night Football was an opportunity that wouldn’t have been there for Witten had he played football in 2018. Romo could have continued playing football after the 2016 season but he was offered a great opportunity to be part of the number one broadcasting crew for CBS. That move certainly worked out great for him. Now he has an opportunity to make more money as a broadcaster than he did as a football player.
