I was stunned to learn that Cowboys gave backup QB Cooper Rush a tender. So this is how much McCarthy-Kellen-Mussehemier group think that highly of da Coop ?

it doesn't mean anything in terms of dollars nor compensation picks with Rush, but I thought it was a typo error when I first read that news ticker.

was this more about liking a familiar face in a familiar system with some of the current coaches I wonder.

the jarwin move I could more understand as if some team swoops him up, it's practically leaves us with zero creditable TE help, going into this offseason FA/NFL draft.

Don't currently have any other backup QBs, except a cast-off we picked up.

I dont think it means much of anything to be honest other than they dont want to be left with no one.
yeah we wont know anything in that area till we see preseason games, and who they wind up keeping.
Also draft and FA still to come.
Or Mike may like what he has seen of him lol.
I think also rush would look better after TC with mike , JG never developed any QB's, they tended to
get worse not better.

It might just be a move to frustrate Jason Garrett's hostile takeover of the Giants.

I'll be shocked if McCarthy doesn't upgrade this position. Rush should be renting instead of buying.

Really, Mike White was highly disappointing last year. Not sure what happened there.
Mike White was a huge fail. He was one of Kellen Moore's pet projects.

No surprise. Gotta save them $$$$ to make deals with the players Jerry is in hearts with.

First it's Nussmeier not Mussehemier. Second what does making a couple of very low cost tender offers have to do with what they think about Cooper?

You need to find something real to whine about.

Having to sign Dak and Cooper it’s not like the Cowboys are going to have a lot of money to try and upgrade the backup QB position. They’ll likely bring in some scrub off the street or draft a QB late in the draft to compete with Rush. With Dak’s durability not having missed a start during his four year career, backup QB isn’t that big a concern. It will become a concern if Dak were to go down and Rush can’t do the job. We won’t know if he’s capable until he has to play.

He very well could with a vet
This year we have too many needs to draft a QB to me but they could
Rush is a good camp body but he may very well not make the final cut if we do sign a vet

With wanting to get Prescott and Cooper signed and possible also getting Quinn there will be zero cap space so I very seriously doubt the Cowboys will go out and sign any vet QB. With all the actual needs I also seriously doubt the Cowboys will use any to the top 4 draft picks on a QB.

I think they will bring in some competition and see if Rush can beat them out. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a rookie and a low level vet come in. I just don’t see Mike handing the job to Rush.

If Dak got seriously hurt, Jerry would probably try to get Kellen to suit up again.

maybes mike like rush's "lollipop" arm or this means nothing, but let's panic.

It would be interesting to see the Cowboys bring in someone like Bortles or Dalton (cheap) and draft a guy like Hurts.

If Dak plays on the tag this year you can almost kiss him goodbye next offseason.

As Nancy would say,
"Just say No!" To Blake Bortles.

He might be the worst #2 QB in the NFL.

No clue what this FO sees in him except their own need to be right.

when dalton had talent around him [2015] he helped his team to a 12-4 record and was an MVP candidate. I think the Bears, Pat, and a few other teams might take a look at him.he's probably a 1 to 2-year option while a team develops a rookie.

2 mil is peanuts for a backup QB and he's got experience here. That means a lot for a backup who isn't getting 1st string QB snaps.

White was a bust. So we sign Rush and draft another, hoping he can beat out Rush next year.
