It's ridiculously funny to me that some keep saying "take less"!!!! Would you settle? Less money for your family? Less money for a career that might be cut short with and injury! Less money for a team that will cut you as soon as you slip? What the hell?? I get it, salary cap....blah, blah ,blah. I wouldn't settle and I sure as hell don't blame anyone that would.

What is ridiculous is you trying to compare a common man's wage to a 30+ million dollar wage

I would w/o hesitation.

All the stuff you spewed, and here's what you missed: There is almost nothing you can buy for 40 mil/season that you can't buy for 30 mil/season.

No it would not. And he's my argument for that myth.

You know what happens when teams are under the salary cap? They spend money on free agents. Do you know what free agents are? Players other teams either don't want or don't feel they are worth what they are asking. So that's what taking a pay cut gets you. Either guys past their prime or players other teams don't want. You just can't build a team that way.

Now when you are pressed against the cap what do you have to do? How do you get better? You are forced to draft better. To take less chances. To not get cute. This is how you want to build a team. It is the model the Chiefs will eventually have to do in order to keep talent around Mahomes. Same goes for the Eagles and Rams.
Well, that's the perfect world view, but it simply doesn't work that way.

I was a common man most of my life. I respect people that do more and earn more.

Who said anything about respect? You just can't compare a normal working person's financial decisions to a football player. You can't even argue Daks decision making is even about money at this point.

I wish all players would settle like you do. Most want to earn what they can.

If I thought the team was well run / coached and that the money I left on the table would conceivably go to quality players that will help put rings on my fingers - records with my name and all the fame, endorsements and accolades that come with it—-yes. I’d take less.

but.......

So winning doesn;t mean a team fitting the best players possible under the budget????? Okay, so then let Dak take all he can get and Dallas doesn't re-sogn Amari Cooper and eventually has to cut some of the o-linemen and see how good Dak is with all that money.

Yeah, running for his life every game might get his attention.

There's a monster of a difference between "settling" and taking a decent contract that makes you wildly rich. This term "settling" is a silly take and actually has no place in this negotiation.

Yeah, taking less from this particular organization is a different story.

Yeah the way some act, you'd think we were talking about $10 - $15 per hour instead of $105 freaking million.
