The draft isn't really a deadline BUT we can expect to non-stop rumors of him getting traded.

July 15 is a hard deadline, where he either signs a long-term deal or wait until 2021. Remember Dak has specifically said he will NOT show for offseason programs w/o long-term deal. Frankly, he can't coz he WILL NO LONGER HAVE A CONTRACT. This is where things will get real dicey coz MM is now forced to work Cooper Rush until Dak signs the tag.

Guess the next question, will he sign the tag. I'm sure he will but when and what's the residual impact of getting a long-term next year. One thing I think we can count on......if we make to 2020 NFCCG ( not a reach at all) just give him a blank check. He's going expensive, damn expensive in fact and will likely force a trade IF they attempt to franchise him a 2nd time.

God knows I hope they work something out before the 10th but doesn't look like that's going to happen at all. So get ready for the real drama.........lol

April 23 - 25

NFL Draft, Las Vegas, Nevada.

July 15

At 4:00 p.m., New York time, deadline for any club that designated a Franchise Player to sign such player to a multiyear contract or extension. After this date, the player may sign only a oneyear contract with his prior club for the 2020 season, and such contract cannot be extended until after the club’s last regular season game.

Seems they’ll throw more money at him once cba gets locked down. The 105 he turned down is obviously starting point now lol I’m hopeful it gets done before the tag has to come to fruition.

I know Jerry loves Dak but I think Stephen is more business at this stage. If this goes sideways with negotiations; Stephen will look around the league. It was Stephen that got Elliott signed.

Maybe everyone know my anti Dak affiliation, love it or leave it,, doesn't matter one bit to me,, just saying that Cooper better turn into to sooper, because that is no way to gain leverage in negations concerning Dak, why is Coopers name even being brought up,, this is actually pretty funny stuff.

A note for you. Teams have until the 12th, not the 10th to designate using a tag on a player.

Stephen aka Cowboys have Zero leverage!

Take or leave deals is not an option for Cowboys.

If Dak plays hard ball. He'll stay away sign deal .. split snaps with Back-Up because he'll be behind, but expectations Dak will take full reins by week 3.

I posted periodically during last season price could go up...now 2020 season regular season games are in play.

In McCarthy we trust.... he's had multiple successful QB depth charts.

THE ONLY place those rumors will come from are those who have ZERO first hand knowledge of any of the talks between the Cowboys and France. Those rumors and 2 bucks can get you a coffee. Those that listen to them and believe them deserve all the emotions that they cause.

It also can be a good thing that Rush would be getting more reps than he would normally get so he can just get better. Also there are quite a few that think the threatened hold out if tagged is France's idea and that when push comes to shove Prescott will sign the tag offer.

Idk....if there is a qb the cowboys really like in the draft thebcowvoys could have a ton of leverage. It would be interesting what the tag n trade market for dak looks like given the amount of QBs out there right now, butbu wouldnt rule it out.

My guess is we see a deal signed around 35mm/year, but I wont rule out anything right now. If both sides were as committed to a deal as they say in the media it would be done by now.

The tag is bad in every way.
33 comes right off the cap. Based on Wilson's deal, a first year cost would be 10-11 million less.
It causes hard feelings between not only Dak and the team, but the players seem to love him and could see it as a slight.
As the OP suggested, tag him, and he leads them to the NFCCG or SB and that 33/105 will be 40+/130+.

If was a roll of the dice, no doubt. If Zeke doesn’t bounce back this year we can say craps....
It is not just about performance, it is the message it sends. Holding out with 2 years left on a top 4 pick contract was a big issue for me, especially the way the the team supported him during the domestic abuse thing.

Dak gets called greedy, yet he did not hold out, even after completely outperforming his rookie deal. Really leaves me asking what the Dak bashers were saying about Zeke's greed.

it's not quite that simple for Dak, lets assume he gets tagged because he has no long term deal then stays away. Your right the Cowboys have to split snaps between backups, but they could also say the hell with it and draft a QB or sign a veteran, also assuming Dak stays tagged and stays away he is also not learning a new offense with a new coach, then he comes in late to training camp after signing his tag or stays away for the 1st few games before he comes back, if when he comes back after a staying away for so long and doesn't perform that well, he hurts his negotiating stance for 2021, remember it is not as if he is staying away and coming back to the same offense he played under for the previous 4 seasons, under that situation yes he could hold out but under this situation with a new coach and new system he hurts himself too by staying away. One other thing as you say Dak comes back by or after week three what if the Cowboys start off 2-0 or 3-0 and whoever is QB looks pretty good, does Dak just get his job back? I believe the Cowboys have some leverage in this situation too.

I don’t think anybody should say he is definitively saying he won’t show up for offseason activities. I know what he said and it’s something that can be interpreted many ways. Personally I think it’s a big bluff because him showing up out of shape and unprepared hurts him as much as the team when it comes to getting what he wants.

Fair point... Cowboys only gain leverage if Dak regresses, backup QB steps up and winning record (at that moment)....that is a scenario where Cowboys begin to get some leverage.
But Dak has progressed every year, backup QBs that perform at start level don't fall from the sky (draft or free agency) and starting 2-0 with new coaching staff drafted QB or FA isn't highly likely... plausible but not likely...Cowboys have zero leverage TODAY!

Dak will show up.. same reason he played hurt end of last season.. Dak knows the only way he keeps his job is to make sure the Jones don't see that there are lots of other guys out there that can do it better than him.

Dak will suit up out of fear. Still think they will get the deal done and for stupid money.. and we will suck for another 4-5 years because of it.. but there is hope for our franchise if he doesn't sign.. does stay away and then maybe we get someone decent in here to start taking reps.. MM then can go to Jones and say hey.. I want this guy and we might actually get a shot.
