This article puts it in a way as if Dallas wasnt interessted in a long contract. Well, from all i read Dallas is the one who wants a longterm contract where Dak wants a shortterm (something in a 3 year range). In fact money was never the issue here it was always the length of the contract.

If i were GM i would consider tagging Dak a win for me. But with Dallas wanting a longterm contract that for sure should be considered a win for Dak.

This isn't going to start off well. If Dak holds true to his word and holds out until training camp, new head coach Mike McCarthy, o-coordinator Kellen Moore and the rest of the coaches won't be happy about it.

This is EXACTLY why you cant do stupid things and ignore the QB position until you have no choice. We should have a quality young QB grooming in the wings at all time. Just like it was stupid to have NO ONE Behind Zeke. Its not only leverage, but its smart business having depth at the QB position.
If this continues, I have no issues with taking a QB high in the event that Dak holds out or the relationship gets strained.

The issue with tagging is that the entire salary goes on the books for the year. You cant spread it out or make certain years less as to maneuver the cap the way you like it.

I am good with this, enough babbling about Dak. Lets sign Cooper, Quinn and a few others.

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t Dak the one who wanted a short term deal? Cowboys wanted the long term deal?

Most of the stuff in the media comes from Daks agents, so you have to be skeptical. Given Daks inconsistencies and that we've a new HC, it is inconceivable that, given the risks, any competent front office would give him a long term deal (noting our issues at GM). For the same reasons, any competent agent would want the longest, most tied in contract for Dak.

I think the short term rhetoric is Daks agents putting a gloss on the fact that if he gets a deal, it will only be a short term.one.

hows that a compromise, thats the only two choices there were the entire time.. a compromise would be Dak taking the 33/105 he was offered as it was more then fair and maybe the DC going from 6 to 4 year deal..neither happened.

Now hold onto your hats Dak may still hold out and we would still need to bring in a vet as insurance and a Jhurts type mid rounder QB to groom as dak might do a Cousins so plans are still needed and nothings changed,,I like hurts in late 3rd or 4th round he can be like Hill over in NO and used like that and sometimes at qb like Jackson getting his feet wet slowly.. he reminds me of Dak so whats to lose?

In terms of contract length Dak wants a 4 year deal, Dallas wants a 7 year deal.

I know this isn't scientific or mind blowing but this board isn't the only place split on Dak. There is this weird dynamic here where people think the Dak haters or Dak lovers only exist in these walls but today I was running errands with my hand sanitizer and was wearing a lovely Tommy Bahama Dallas Cowboys Pullover that a friend got me for my 50th recently. At least 3 people asked me what I thought about the team and Dak. All 3 said the same thing...Dak is good but not worth the money. Two said "Id let him walk for those demands." I didn't agree with anything but overall there is Cowboy QB discord everywhere...not just here.
