I will not accept the likes I received for posting this. I'm asking the staff to deduct it from my ridiculous total. If not, I will maintain my own count from here.

I think I can talk to somebody about doing that for you. What's our banking number?

OK, can you post what you are referring to because as I've said, I haven't seen anything suggesting what you say. Jerry has said that the money could go up if Dak and his team agree to a longer contract. I don't know how we can say that it's less then Wentz or Goff. We don't know what the money is. Besides, both Goff's and Wentz's deals were leveraged on existing contracts and money still due. Dak's deal, if it is 34/35 annually and 105, is in the ball park with both of those contracts and more. Dak doesn't have to have the best contract in the league, in every way. I mean, if that's how he and his agent want to work this, then let him go. We don't need that. It's a negotiation to me. If you can't do that, then you need to move on.

This is the first article I could find talking about the length and it is in line with what I thought.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...k-prescott-team-renews-offer-to-amari-cooper/

"In early February, I reported Prescott was looking for a shorter deal that would allow him to negotiate a new contract under the new CBA in the near future, but the Cowboys wanted to run long and not revisit this topic anytime soon. That is still very much the case as we stand in mid-March, with both sides working to meet some sort of middle ground on that point. Prescott isn't afraid to scale down to a four-year deal or even one that taps out at three years, but the Cowboys are equally bullish in their stance -- seeking one closer to five years or longer (think upwards of seven-ish)."

I'm not saying Dak needs the best contract in the league in every way but this contract isn't the best in any way. The reported $105 million guaranteed contract had an AAV of $33 million so the contract has to be for at least four years for those numbers to make sense. If it was a 4 year deal then it is a decent offer but not so amazing that Dak is unreasonable for not accepting. If it is for 5 years or more, it is a poor offer.

This is from Feb.? It's no longer accurate. There have been multiple offers from the team since then.

Buying time I suppose

that's exactly all it is. stephen a smith went on a stupid rant about disrespect this morning. it's merely a tool so that you don't lose the player and can keep negotiating without losing him. he assumes dallas is pulling a Commanders and tagging 3 years then letting him go.

Exactly. I think the move is to sign Coop, and then we will extend Dak afterwards. QB contracts can be quite difficult and with 3 skill positions (including CB) needing contracts along with other players we'd probably like to have (Quinn) resigned, this was always going to be the strategy.

This team is so poorly managed at the top level, always overpaying for players. Wasted a 1st round pick on Cooper for 1.5 season rental, he will probably walk away. Dak wants to be the highest-paid QB in the league and the team loses all the leverage for a long term contract by doing an exclusive franchise tag. Dak will still make 30+ this year and the team will probably have to make him the highest-paid QB in the league for him to sign a long term contract.

They are getting a bad rep but Cooper and Dak were insistent on betting on themselves. It takes to tango and it made no sense to sign then.
the only deals that would have gotten them signed earlier would have been panned by the entire world. both guys were intent on betting on themselves.
