Is Byron Jones really worth his new contract coming?

its like when you buy a new car. Your paying like 80% over what the car is actually worth, then the minute you drive it off the lot at signing, it depreciates in value 2 fold. Its the same thing with NFL players. NO...they aint worth the price, but the market sets price. IT IS WHAT IT IS.

The Cowboys have been a bend but don't break defense which has helped Jones, however with the new D coordinator I think you're going to see more press which doesn't play well Jones. Even with his speed he has issues locking down receivers.
It will be painful at times this year without him.

We only really got 2 seasons of effective play from him with all the moving around he had to do.

So that is we will miss his play, but not so much as if he was a 4 year Pro Bowler, like with Amari should he too leave.

Somebody in the thread said Jones was really more of a track star who could play football. Which I guess is true given his broad-jump skill etc.

So In the long-run, finding a true CB who is primarily a footballer with CB instincts will prove better and show up quicker than Jones did.

This draft may or may not address CB well enough. It may have to wait until 2021to fix it.

We will see.

Ummm..

Nice analogy.

Now that interest rates are dropping all over the country, now is the time to buy.

But yeah, a built in overpayment is expected at the time of purchase.

Which is where the team has done well recently. Trading for guys like Quinn and signings like Cobb have been great moves for us. I hope both come back but figure another team is going to snatch them.

Oh well..

No he's not.....but don't hate the player hate the game. It's the market value that is set by someone willing to pay. Blame the Dolphins.....they are about to get hoodwinked once BJones is exposed. It's not BJones fault......you overpaying, I'm signing.

That depends on what his new contract is. I hate it when folks complain about a contract before they even know what it actually is. I won't be a part of that. With that said, I'm not for giving him the upper end of what is being estimated he could get.

So he covered opposing #1 receivers 1/3 of the time?? I really like Byron, good player but 17 million a year isn't worth it.

Byron Jones signed with the Dolphins.

How come no thread on that??

Jones' deal is for five years and $82.5 million, including $57 million guaranteed....... that is 16.5 mil a year.
I think the cowboys messed up not keeping him , I would like to see if he got ints under the new DC.
Will be curious to see how he does in miami.

I dont think anyone can say this helps our defense. The jones boys dont care about having a strong overall defense, they think
you pay DE and LB , and the rest are expendable, anyone can play defense.
This is why they wont ever have a championship defense.

I dont think they realize how good the defense was in the 90's under jimmy, it was top 2 defense in years they won the SB.
But the triplet's and offense always get the credit.
