Pencil in Randy Gregory as the Cowboys starting RDE. Now that testing positive for maryjane will no longer be a suspension causing infraction, the Cowboys can finally get the payoff for the most talented Defensive Lineman in their roster. They will not find a better DE in this draft than Randy Gregory, which is why it is okay to let Robert Quinn walk.

I'd like to get Quinn back, but Gregory is the best DE they have.

Quinn can kick rocks, Gregory is a more complete DE. Quinn is terrible against the run, screen passes & above average LT’s. Don’t be fooled by the anomaly of sacks that he had last year - he gives up way too many big plays for those sacks to even matter. He’s the Patrick Beverley of the NFL - everyone is fooled and thinks this guy can play defense. He’s complete trash.

I like Quinn, but he gets too far upfield on his pass rush. Supposedly he had that big year with the Rams because that was a year in which quarterbacks were taking 7-step drops.

Quinn isn’t a great weapon against these short drop quarterbacks and especially not against the running quarterbacks which are now in vogue.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d bring him back for the right price, but I think he’s looking for something big.

Bingo!

I’d bring him back for $15/hr to play on 3rd and 15+

Hope so, but I think Gregory also failed to abide by testing, which I think can get you suspended. Also, penalties for failing the one drug test per year may still be high for a guy with a zillion past violations.

I haven't read the language in the new CBA yet. If anyone in the league can be tripped up by prior history, it is Gregory.

Have you read it to ensure that he's clear?

We don't have Irving's rights. We do have Gregory's.

Though I think there was a little noise that they would "consider" Irving. I expect, however, that Irving would be eager to consider the Cowboys.

Though Jerry really is throwing money around. Jarwin's contract was a shock to me at least.

I'm all for bringing back Gregory and Irving. They both had spurts where they looked like all-pros.

Me,too.

I just don't see Jarwin unless he adds 20 lbs. and blocks for Zeke AND catch 80 passes for 800 yds.

I really like Randy Gregory! I’m kind of biased though because we were born on the same day. He’s really has to work on not committing silly penalties though! I remember back in 2018 he had a few that hurt the team. I doubt sitting out a year helped him out much

Hopefully, Randy will make his comeback reasonably, assuming he gets off suspension (which he should.) Gotta wonder what he might have left in the tank, though, after such a long time out of the action. Jerry & Stephen will likely welcome him back, unless I'm shamefully mistaken. I expect he'll do spot duty 'til he gets his mojo back, however.
