assuming that it was the player's fault yes. However Garrett's teams from 2011-2019 were dead last in INTs. That is 9 full years of ineptitude at taking the ball away. I would argue that it wasn't the player's fault that none of them could take the ball away.

It’s a combination of scheme and player. Players have to be in the right position to make plays on the ball and they also have to be able to catch the ball when it hits them in the hands. We’ve seen a number of drops over the years.

Lots of DBs and LBs drop passes and the sample size of 9 years if just too big to think it's 9 years of bad defensive rosters. Admittedly we've invested close to nothing in the safety position which is the position where most INTs come from.

We’ve dropped far too many of them. Byron Jones had drops. Lack of ball skills and instincts play a part in it. Regardless of how many times we’ve changed coordinators we see the same problems. No point in investing a high pick on a safety if they’re not close to a sure thing. We’ve drafted safeties but we can’t seem to land a great player at that position.
