-Quinn/Cobb were probably the only ones who left that the team wanted to resign. Cobb could be easily replaced via the draft at a much cheaper rate. Unless the team signs a veteran fa DE, you would think a combo of Gregory/Quinn would would handle the spot. Team has shown interest in many pass rushers via the draft. I would like Griffen from Minnesota, not sure he is on their radar.

-McCoy was a very good signing even at his age. Not only is he better than Collins right now, but he is that veteran leader we sorely lack. He should only help the development of T. Hill.

-I believe signing Chris Harris is a pipe dream. With the Eagles lurking for secondary help and the Vikings needing major help, we probably will get priced out. Trufant might be more likely. Who knows maybe they give show me contract to a T. Johnson, a player who with the Rams was a turnover machine.

-With Jeff Heath signing with the Raiders we saw the team resign D. Thompson. That clearly isn't enough at the position. Will we see the team finally sign a legit, starting safety? I have my doubts. D. Randall has MM ties, he would be the guy to keep our eyes on, if they do sign a safety.

-The team is going to sign a true, NT at some point. There is still plenty quality out there at the position. You would think after the 1st wave, they will get their target.

So far we've done ok. Adding DT help is a plus but we still need alot if help with the DB's. Thompson couldn't earn time on the field before so i hope they are not done adding veteran help.

Wilson could emerge as a starting SS candidate. He's got a good football IQ and has had time in the system. It was preseason but he had some interceptions in limited action.
He needs to make the team first. With Heath injured so much last year, why didn't we see him more? Team needs to find a legit starting safety, not hope that a green, late rounder can make an impact.

I’m fine with it so far. We locked the two guys we desperately needed to lock (Amari and Dak). Never expected to retain Jones. McCoy was a great pickup. Really hoping we can find someone to replace Quinn, though.

My thoughts about FA thus far is: so far, so good. There's still plenty of work to be done via FA and the draft, though. Keep plugging, team!

We're off to a good start with the acquisition of Gerald McCoy and the re-signing of Darian Thompson. I think and hope he's ready to blossom impressively. Much the same goes for our young LB, Luke Gifford attaining good health and coming into his own.

Here's hoping Randy Gregory is finally ready to rock at DE and that the draft finds most of us celebrating happily. Here's wishing the best of good fortune to Mike McCarthy and his wisely-chosen staff, as well. :)

its WAY early in offseason team building my thoughts are calm down things will change a lot by june..you do realize if football does resume it start in September, huh thats like nearly 6months to mold team..this is even early in FA terms, there will be more cuts, trades, and signings then add the draft..

I actually like it . We have moved on without witten and heath. Don’t get me wron I like heath.. just not as a starter. Witten one of my favorite cowboys of all time. But his time is done here

I think Wilson will get a chance in camp to compete for the job. He played very well last year in pre season, he just need to keep working. Meantime I think Cowboys will bring in others to compete at safety but I would never rule any player out just based on where he was selected. If that was the case Romo never would have stepped on the field.

So far I'm okay with everything. A few things...
1) I really have no opinion about Dak and his franchise tag. It is what it is. They'll come to a number one day-hopefully sooner rather than later.
2) Speaks volume about Amari. He wants to be in Dallas. The fact he turned down more $$$ is telling.
3) Glad this team kept Blake Jarwin. This tells you how much say Mike is getting.
4) I'm not shedding tears about our departures. Byron is very good but you can't pay everybody. Robert Quinn and Randall Cobb had nice years but can they do that again? It was time to move on from Jason Witten for sure. Jeff Heath was a good locker room guy and a solid player. Wish them all the best.
5) I like the Gerald McCoy signing.

I would say a #3 WR, DE, DB, and a safety are the top needs for Dallas right now. I hope everyone is doing well. I have been super busy these last few months and haven't been able to have been on here as much as I would like.

I wouldn't have paid Cooper like that but the fact they can get out of it in two years makes me feel a little better. The signing of McCoy somewhat offsets the loss of Quinn.

It is a typical off-season. Other than the new coaching staff.

We lose players from the start, sign a few of our own players. Though we did sign McCoy, but usually wait a few days into FA to do so.
Now we have lost a few, 6 total so far, more than usual at this point.

But I have no issues one way or the other.

He was a rookie. Woodson didn't start until his second season. Even the top rookie safeties took a while to adjust last year. I'm all for an upgrade at safety as well.
