Why would you? Where is all this production that makes him so nasty? Where is all the cap coming from on this? That's the first thing we would need to understand. Why is this guy still unsigned? Maybe teams don't believe he is worth what he is asking for, IDK. Also, are you willing to do this without any kind of team physical? Right now, because of the Coronavirus, you can't check him out.

First and foremost, I don't think he's worth tbe claimed 22m per year..or whatever it is he's asking for. According to an article on NFL.com, a lot lf teams agree as well. Besides that, he's got a "questionable" injury history.

Now, that being said, I believe they can and will sign him only IF tbey can make the numbers work with the current cap "situation". If/when theu sign the QB, there's space there after he's off of the tag.

@Future shared a fairly nice graphic showing Clowneys potential for dominance, and my personal opinion believes that it would increase playing along the line with McCoy and Lawrence. Plus, the kid has versatility standing up, as well as with a hand in the dirt.

No, I wouldn't sign anyone without a physical. I also wouldn't pursue quite yet, not knowing what's going on with the tagged QB situation. Which means I agree with your statement about "knowing the cap" first. I wouldn't do it if it's going to strap us to an inconsistent and often injured player.

Lot's and lot's of moving parts.

Yeah, cap is definitely an issue, at this point. In terms of the player, he is an enigma. He has all the talent in the world physically. He has measurables that are off the charts. But his abilities don't match up with his numbers. We've seen this before in guys. Quentin Coryatt, Keith McCants, Aundray Bruce etc., they were all guys who had off the charts abilities but just never panned out. I'm always mystified but it happens over and over. I wonder if this guy is one of those guys?

I live in Boise and watch him. He's a very good football player and pass rusher. MWC's all time sack leader (34) over Jerry Hughes (28.5), D Law (20) and Shaq Barrett (18). Athletic metrics are pretty good (6'2" (short for DE), 265lbs, 32.5" arms (short for DE); 32" vert, 116" long, 4.27 short shuttle, 7.00 3-cone). Vs. Joey Bosa (6'4" 266, 33"arms, 33.5, 116, 4.14, 7.10). Vs. Maxx Crosby (6'4" 255, 34.75" arms, 36.0 122 4.13 6.89). Vs. Rashan Gary (6'4", 277, 34"arms, 38.0 120 4.29 7.26). Vs. Montez Sweat (6'5", 260, 35.75arms, 36.0 125 4.29 7.00). I would not be upset if we took him in a trade down.
I thought he would be bigger. He is a good football player like DLaw and LVE. I would not complain if we draft him.

Just go get Clowney once he realizes $20 million a year is not happening.

Gregory will be back but I think he is at best as a situational 3rd rusher off the bench and not a full-time starter. Maybe Armstrong can also compete for that role but we still need a #2 opposite Lawrence. Quinn was the perfect speed rusher to compliment him on the weakside.

If Gregory is a situational 3rd rusher then all they need is Crawford or Armstrong run on downs.

Gregory should return.

They may play this flex game still with Crawford. :banghead:

They still have and seem to like Armstrong, Jelks, Jackson.
Hyder is a possibility to return, as he can play inside and outside.

With Gregory *likely* returning, I don't expect any big addition at DE. Especially since with Marinelli gone, I bet we rotate the DEs less. DLaw shouldn't be making 20mil on a part time gig.
