i know fans want to see their team sign free agents, but in the nfl it is pretty much a trap to get teams to sign bad contracts. it is good for depth and to supplement ur roster but splash signing are usually bad. signings like stephon gilmore are the exception big time. just look at what actual good teams have sign in free agency not counting their own re signing :

chiefs - no one
49ers - no one
titans - vic beasley
packers - christian kirksey, rick wagner
ravens - michael brockers
texans - no one
saints - malcolm jenkins
patriots - beau allen, demaire byrd
etc

u build actual good teams in the draft and re-sign ur guys or let them walk and collect comp picks. free agency is wack.

Chiefs spent a lot of money last year.

Traded a first and gave Clark a 5 year 104mil deal.
Signed Okafor to a 3yr 18mil deal.
Signed Mathieu to a 3 year 42 mil deal.

Previous year before they gave Watkins that 16mil a year deal too.

It’s sad that our FO hasn’t figured out any of this for many years. Thus...8-8.

No Cowboys free agent has followed Garrett to NY. So let me ask. Does that tell you the players know Garrett sucks and is likely to fail or does it tell you Garrett knows our players aren’t worth pursuing?

Yeah toss in the Ravens also grabbed Calais Campbell via trade to pair with Brockers to help fix the need of run defense that the Titans exploited

OP is trying real hard to plug this narrative in

Ask Buc fans in TB about that and see what they say. I'll bet they set a record for season ticket sales this week.
I mean they signed Tom Brady if we signed him it wouldn't matter in tickets cause we take care of that anyway

Those are the free agents they either traded for or signed within the last year or 2....I believe most of those were pretty high impact additions that didn't come from the draft...

If you told this board the night before free agency started last year, "Hey, we're going to add a WR who is gonna average 15 yards a catch and will actually come pretty close to 1000 yards despite only being our #3, and we're going to add a DE who will have double-digit sacks for us," I think they would've assumed we were about to make a couple of premium Day 1 signings.

People get this free agency fever that causes them to think everyone who adds a big name on Day 1 is Super Bowl-bound. And you can only help yourself with big-ticket guys on day 1 of free agency, and everyone who comes later at a lower price doesn't even count.

The playoff teams that arent doing anything now did their signings years prior.

Drafting is important but it isnt significantly important than signing top free agents who have shown they can play in the NFL.

Except this team hasn't drafted any better than average at best the last 3 years.

Only one other team cut their 2017 1st round pick already. And that was for off-field, domestic violence reasons.

Our 'draft luster' has taken a serious hit lately.

The Chiefs also have Mahomes and several other really good players that they drafted along with a great coach. When you're 1 or 2 players away, FA can make sense. Let's see if all the moves the Browns made this week leads to a SB this year.

I don't agree with not being active in FA, as much as I would not participating in the draft.. lol well not quite to that degree, but my point being is that there is quality talent
available during FA, that certain team situations can acquire when the time is right, they don't have to be starters.
Free Agency is the talent purge of the NFL,, it just takes good FOs and GMs that can extract the necessary available talent that can help a roster each year.
