Time is up to give Dak the benefit of the doubt

Let's be realistic here though. Dak's floor is probably 34 or 35 million. His ceiling is 40 million. That's a 5-6 million dollar difference. I'm sorry but that amount of money would not handcuff this team. It just wouldn't if they draft well. Having cap space is a cop out so teams can take flyers on guys like Taco Charlton and Trystin Hill. When you have to pay a quarterback 40 million all of a sudden you don't have that luxury. You have to be smarter about how you draft.
Be smarter? The draft is a crap shoot. Do you think any team tries to draft dumb? They evaluate players and draft who they think is the best and best fit. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. That’s life.

Well, it does seem logical. Now I want to see how much it actually translates in dollars and cents. I'm trying to see if I can find how much Tony used to make in endorsements a year.
I don’t think Romo pursued a ton of endorsements while he was playing. He spent all of his time on football and golf. He’s done quite a bit since retiring, which is also a benefit of playing for the Cowboys. Just look at how many former Cowboys are in broadcasting. It’s not a coincidence.

I don’t come here every day. I can express my feelings.

Tell me why he deserves Russell Wilson + pay. Pray tell.

The problem is... it isn't if he deserves it or is worth it, it is the market. However, his market should not be top 5 QB pay.

But, top 5 QB pay, isn't top 5 QB pay anymore...

So with changes, $35mil, could potentially be QB pay for 5-10 in the QB list.

That is the problem... QBs shouldn't be getting paid like that to begin with.

Contracts already made for Wentz and Goff, etc... aren't in the picture as top 5 QB money now.

I think paying Dak $33mil is stupid, but it is what it is...

I would guess quite a bit. Simple logic. The Cowboys are still the most visible franchise in the NFL and the most valuable in all of sports. Advertising dollars are spent where the results are seen and noticed by the most people. It’s not difficult to know the answer even without actually researching the numbers.

Of course you have to factor in how much a certain player wants to do ads, commercials, etc. Some seek it out more than others.
Using 2015 numbers, Romo got $5 million in endorsements and Dalton got $1 million. Eli Manning got $8 million. Drew Brees got $16 million. Cam Newton was making $12 million in endorsements in 2016. Phillip Rivers only $450K (that sucks). I can't just find a simple list with everyone on it. The Forbes list for the top paid athletes has updated to 2019. I have to search by individual player to find out what they were making.

Emmitt was clearly the best RB in the game and the money, while large for the position at the time, still wasn’t QB money. QB money has by far the biggest impact on a teams’s salary cap. Not even in question.
No doubt, but what do you have to say towards teams who actually are paying their QBs top dollar AND still capable of building a team good enough to make the playoffs? Are they wrong to do so? It's always been this way since the salary cap went into effect. A very good QB always gets paid.

Romo had endorsement as well. What players do on their free time is their business. Just as I defended Romo when he went to Cabo before the playoffs. Dak getting commercials is not taking away from anything nor did Romo off the field pursuits take away anything from him. People are just looking for crap to beat up on Dak and in fairness many did the same to Romo.

It is. But I’m sorry drafting Trystin Hill and Taco doesn’t fit the “smart” category. There were much smarter moves available. That’s called getting cute.

I can’t parrot. I can tell you you’re just parroting what others say without even thinking if it makes sense for you to copy their thoughts without thinking about it first.

Your a funny dude. And, I spoke to what I know happens. The only reason your once again butt hurt regarding a convo on here is because.....once again....it doesn’t align with your thoughts - in particular because it deals with a player that you have shown a distaste for. I find it hilarious reading the constant whining/drivel/etc... you and other members of the “I Hate Dak” Mob post on here daily. And, if you truly paid attention to what I wrote regarding this ENTIRE situation with Dak, I said that Dallas was stupid for NOT using the Non-Exclusive Tag where they could’ve a) seen if there IS a big market for him, b) decide if they wanted to match whatever offer(s) were made, and c) received draft compensation for letting him walk IF it came to that. But, that would’ve taken too much work....

Time is up to give Dak the benefit of the doubt.

I think this organization has been more than fair to Dak with their offer They have indicated they are willing to gamble everything on him despite (let’s be honest) him not proving himself yet. They’ve already taken the step to offer more than he’s worth.

Last year, even the first three stellar weeks, accuracy was still (and always will be) a problem.

And for the life of me, I don’t understand how he doesn’t realize that QB of Dallas Cowboys is worth 10x more in his post NFL life and endorsements than going to a small market afterthought.

He has proven he does not care anything about this franchise and his teammates. Surprising, yes, but now clear to any unbiased observer.

It is time to seek trade offers from other teams and think about moving on. We do not want to hitch our wagon to this horse.

Unless something has changed that I have not seen yet, They've already hitched their wagon by giving him the exclusive tag. That means Dallas isn't even considering taking two first round picks for him. No other reason for the exclusive tag. What trade are you expecting worth more than two first rounders? Is that GM for the Vikings still around?

Really not sure what benefit of the doubt Dak has gotten. He has had many of the same critics since he took over. Dak like others will take the heat unless or until he can help this team to a SB.

Yeah I think I’m pretty funny and so do others. I can get with that lol. I’m not butt hurt but I understand people like you have limited vocabulary and thoughts so gotta go with what works. It’s many people on here I get along with that have differing views so take that trash logic elsewhere. I’m asking you to think for yourself and not just parrot stuff that doesn’t even make sense just because that’s what is done. I didn’t know that was asking for much. I don’t hate Dak at all actually met the guy a few times because I know people. He seems cool enough to me but football wise he’s average. If saying someone is average is hating again I’m not surprised most of the people online have limited disagreement tactics and hate is one of them.

HE, did you forget Emmitt's ugly big contract negotiations of 1993 where it dragged out all offseason, causing him to miss training camp AND the first 2 games of the 1993 season? That was his first BIG contract where Emmitt demanded and Jerry delivered on paying him top overall position pay throughout the whole league.
That is true! That's probably why Jerry gave into Zeke so quick. But Daks contract has been strange and it's been ongoing since August. I just think somethings not right and its very well could be the money combined with they dont like what they saw last year.

I hear you. One thing I've realized...today's players are all about the money. It's rare to see one who is willing to take less to help the team.
