That's why Heath had no shoulders left last season. I always have had a soft spot for Heath. Not consistent at the safety position but wow he has made some spectacular plays for us at times. Very devoted and committed player, great special teamer, hope all goes well for him with the Raiders.

Spectacular plays? The issue with Heath is I can remember every one of them.

They were few and far between.

An upgrade over Heath should catapult the defense near the top of the league. High expectations for our defense since the worst safety in the league is no longer on the field. Combine that with Marinelli being gone and McCoy being signed and there should be no excuses for the defense anymore. A 3 & out also shouldn’t gas then for the next 2 weeks.

Near the top of the league ? We need at least one cornerback, very thin at LB with LVE neck issue, Sean Lee 63 years old and injury prone, Jaylon regressing, no run stoppers in the middle of defensive line, and we need another edge rusher. Holes everywhere to fill and the draft ain’t solving it all. But I like your enthusiasm.

Good work Kelz! I didnt know much about Dix either but I like his instincts for reading the play slightly better than Heath.
Clinton-Dix is a band-aid stop gap and nothing more. Proof? He got a one year deal. Nothing screams “stop-gap” like a one year deal for a 27 year old on his 4th team in 6 seasons.

We need to draft a safety early in the draft IMO.

I always liked Heaths effort and he made some memorable plays . It appears we have a business decision maker that will probably get hurdled at the worst time . I see a Terence Newman play on our horizon this season .

That said this guy will probably get a couple picks because of his good anticipation and willingness to take a chance .

Again we hold serve maybe a slight upgrade but it will have to be proven . Nothing really jumps out at you in that film except he is as lucky a tackler as Eli was a passer

I could disagree so much. He’d never had a problem reading the play. He had a problem taking the angle. Obviously you’re right you weren’t paying attention

I despise these 1 year contracts. Especially for younger guys that are decent. It makes all the sense for players that are confident and will bounce back and zero sense for the team paying them to prove themselves. Essentially if Clinton Dix has a good year, he will be gone next. Zero continuity. Idiotic.
It may also indicate what our FO believes about HHCD- they don’t see him as a long term answer. And I would concur. He’s only 27 yet he will have played on 4 teams now.

It’s interesting to me- For all the Heath haters- he got more money and a longer deal than HHCD. Bob Sturm said yesterday that more NFL teams were interested in Heath than Dix. I think this all means we still need to draft a safety early in the draft.

Meh. Clinton-Dix is slower than Heath, is afraid to lay the wood on someone, ducks his head while reaching for ankles, etc.

Hope the Cowboys pick up S Xavier McKinney with their first round pick. It would solve our Strong Safety problem for many years to come.

This means all of the Heath haters don't know what in the heck they are talking about. Period.

Hope Cowboys draft Xavier McKinney in Round 1. Problem solved at our SS position for years to come.

No, haven't forgotten about them. I just read so much of the CowboysZone and how bad Heath is that by virtue of him not being on the field anymore should boost the defense into top notch territory.

He was invisible while playing with Washington.

You are right but to be fair the team went 2-7 when he was there. The offense was putrid after Alex Smith went down averaging 15 points per game and slightly better than 22 minutes of time of possession. Josh Norman was getting beat like a drum and the other starting CB Moreau pretty much began bagging groceries a season later.

In other words the whole team was playing invisible really.

This board had a vast majority salivating for this guy when he left GB. As the video illustrates he is a plug and play level player. They now what they have with him where as Heath no one knew. Some plays he was great some plays he was average and most plays he came into the picture late. Unpredictable player. I would of rather had Joseph but giving Mac at least half a chance on this one knowing the player.
