I saw that on Twitter seems they’ll move woods to strong safety. I’m curious to see how they approach the draft now.
I agree that Dix is more of a FS, so a good position for him.

My concern is moving Woods to SS. I'm taking a wait and see type of approach here.

Woods is too small (5'11", 195 lbs). His body will wear down laying hits at the Strong Safety position.

Draft Xavier McKinney (6'1", 205 lbs). He's bigger, stronger and is overall a better prospect at Strong Safety.

Quit messing around at the Strong Safety position Cowboys. You've gone cheap (draft and free agency/trade) for many years, yet you have yet to adequately fill the void left since when Darren Woodson retired. Enough already.

This is the SS that I want. Huge McKinney fan.

Xavier McKinney is another Jamal Adams, whom the Cowboys were trying to trade for last year. If monster DT Javon Kinlaw is gone by the time the Cowboys come up at pick #17, I hope they go after McKinney.

The real story here isn't putting a guy who plays soft but has a penchant for interceptions at free safety. The story is the Cowboys finally admit that safeties aren't interchangeable and a free safety role actually exists. That is a philosophy change.
Nice to finally take a position seriously that has held the defense back since Parcells was coach.
Dix and Woods, though not great, should form a viable pair. Still would draft one if the right one is there.

Dont see us drafting a S at 17...Dallas will trade back add more picks ...could get McKinnley at 24ish or even Winfield in R2

If Kinlaw isn’t there at 17, McKinney is a definite upgrade over Woods.

Yall keep forgetting what our cornerback situation looks like right now.

Heard this on 105.3 the fan just a little bit ago.

Haven't watched much of him but maybe this move plays more to his strengths? I thought most teams had played him at SS. Could moving woods to SS boost his production too?
LOL the FO finally listened to me and is moving Woods to SS. Hopefully then out the door before 2021 season. He sucks.

Woods is faster and makes business decisions when tackling.

HaHa is bigger and slower.

This makes perfect sense.

I don't see what so many see in Xavier Woods? Overrated and small. Got burned many times and missed more tackles than Jeff Heath last season.

May be but you have to be smart about this too. You are trying to compile a team. Xavier has shown he is a starter in this league at the very least and he's young and cheap. With that 1st rounder I need someone who can come in and contribute now and if that's the case to me its more important to get someone on that defensive line than it does a strong safety.
We all have our opinions..

but safety has been a black hole since Woody left.

If we have the chance to finally rebuild this long overdue defense on the backend..

I say do it and just keep looking for FA DLs.

We have to stop the big plays downfield and force the big plays out of the game plan.

How many times did the defense play well and force a 3rd and 12 only to see it get completed for 20+ yds? A lot and way too often.

The defensive pass rush can be helped by blitzing Lbers and DBs, too.

Just my overall thinking.
