I think everyone needs to accept that our “plan” is Crawford at RDE on run downs and Gregory and Armstrong as situational rushers on passing downs. Not ideal, but we are not paying Griffen $10m/per.

They have plenty of money left for a FA or a salary dump trade like they did with Quinn. Also there are several natural RDEs that are slotted around our pick at 17.

Jack Crawford has been a comparable player, at a fraction of the cost.
Crawford lost me after that Rams playoff game.
The lack of any pass rush from DE outside of the occasional bullrush and lack of a real position is reason for him to be gone.

Does anyone really know who has better sources at this point? Most of the old staff is gone. So, unless it the Jones boys, who would have sources?

You got Moore and Patrik Walker saying there is an interest and then you get Fisher and Werder crushing our dreams.

This makes too much sense. We still have space. We have Crawford that we could move on from to make even more space. We just lost our RDE..Griffin is a solid RDE. This is not a great draft to find a RDE.

Of course, if it was up to me, our starting 4 would be Griffin - McCoy - Billings - DLaw.

With those four upfront, I would have ready to ride into the draft to improve our secondary and to find WR #3.

I really don't get why we didn't go for Billings, such a cheap deal.

He's the best DE on the market. He's good against the run and while he didn't have a large sack number last year, his pass rush win rate was pretty good, I believe.
I'm not saying he's a bad player. I'm just seeing he isn't living up to his 1st overall status. And now he's about to be paid like a top player. I just don't see it. He was talked about like he was Khalil Mack or Von Miiller. He was suppose to have a similar impact. I think there are better DE's......he may have the most potential but like I said I think this is it with him. He will always leave you wanting more.

Oh there's no question about that. He has not lived up the hype but he still can play a pretty good DE. There is zero chance I'd sign him for long term for $20MM a year, but if he gets desperate and wants a 1 year prove it deal like Quinn had, I'd pony up $15MM or so for one year.

I also wouldn't wait on him either..............I'd be all over Griffen or Golden first.

What did Billings end up signing for?

I love Clowney and have been pushing for him around here.

I don't need him cheap, but it absolutely MUST be short term. Theres no way you can trust this guy long haul.

Thing is, w a guy like Griffin at 32, that's short term also.

Griffin may be solid, hit Clowney can wreck a game when he feels like it.
And that doesn't make you nervous? A player who can wreck a game only when he feels like it? When is he gonna feel like it?
