Dude, can’t they work something out where they wait until after the draft to announce that. Now everyone knows. Last year Witten, now this.

Lol how’s he a jerk they probably told him to think about it and he came back and said yea I’m done
They might be plotting a long term signing of a guy like Clowney and are thinking if Fred is struggling to maintain all-pro ability the retirement could serve the team better if it is done now. Fred gets paid either way...they may think Mcgovern or Williams comes in and there is no dropoff...

Fred was mediocre to awful last season. Looney will be a small upgrade. Plus he’ll have jokes and be a comedian in the locker room. A jester of sorts. What’s not to like about that?

He was one of the good guys and hate to see him go. But it is better for his long-term health that's for sure.

Best of luck to him.............I'm sad , and doubly so because one of the things that always brought a smile to my face was reading the name "FredBeard" on these boards........................Thank you , FredBeard :clap::clap:

Another player leaves before the age of 30. More and more of this will continue.

I'm not surprised. I'm more surprised that he returned as soon as he did. You can't play with those nerve injuries. He was a tough hombre for even coming back. Can't be mad at him at all. Thanks for the memories. Wish you well in your career after football, Oh Bearded One.

I still remember watching the draft and having zero clue who he was when Dallas drafted him in the 1st. I thought Dallas screwed up big time. And while they definitely didn't enough from San Francisco to reasonably trade down in the 1st Round, I was totally wrong about Travis Frederick. The dude was going to be a Hall of Famer prior to this illness, I have no doubt about it.

Here's hoping for the best for the Beard. Take care of yourself man, that's what is most important in the end.

Look for LVE to be next in a year or two; bank on it.
What about Jaylon Smith, can he be far behind? Been saying this all offseason....the way Jaylon looked last year....something is not right. No coach in their right mind would allow Jaylon Smith to put that on film week after week after week after week.....

Or we could sign a FA. I wouldn't draft one while there are probably FA options.
It's possible but they have already spent more than they usually do on FA. I like the idea of focusing the draft on the defense and fixing the depth on the OL with FA.

He made the

Dam, out of 7 first round picks we have two guys that are totally healthy and are star players....Zach and Zeke

2/7 on first round picks is not good, we really do need to start drafting better. As for LVE, ask anybody that has ever had neck surgery if they are ever 100% again. Like others have said, dont expect a very long career out of LVE. MLB is probably the worst position on defense to play if you have a gimpy neck.
