I'd love to hear the logic on Crawford

There is no logic involved in why Crawford has been allowed to make so much money. This is a stupid stupid contract. If he's worth 8 a year, the next guy that walks down the sidewalk past Jerry world is worth 1 m.

Tyrone Crawford will be 31 in November, and has a $9.1million cap hit.

Drink it up. It always goes down smooth.

I dont understand either. I think we should keep him, he does a lot of dirty work that no one sees. But he needs to be cut down from 9.1 to 4.5. Dont forget he plays almost every pos along the D line. At that number he is a good guy to keep
Crawford actually volunteered for a pay cut to stay with team earlier in the year
I think depending on who they sign or draft you see him taking a pay cut by adding year or so for about same money

Seems like these long threads get debated in circles every few pages.

Someone wants to know why, someone answers with the probable and logical reason.

That gets buried. Rinse. Repeat.

And then was promptly kicked inside when Gregory started to play well in 2018.

He's not a great starting DE. Griffen is much better. Why not go out and get a better DE and then at least restructure Crawford and kick him back inside or let him float?
No, Randy Gregory only started 1 game.

Crawford started the season at DT because Collins was injured. Taco started at RDE until Collins was healthy enough to start at DT. Crawford then started at RDE. He has started more games in his career at DE than at DT.

Do you guys even watch the games...

"Logic" has nothing to do with this situation. And it hasn't from the day this contract was signed.

It is very simple. If they find a replacement they will cut him. If they keep him they will restructure/cut his pay.

They need him to be honest. With RG constantly missing games, the flop pick on Hill, we left with no choice.

If we don't plan on spending down all our cap space, I'd love to keep him. If we are going to a 3-4 front he gives us a lot of flexibility as he can play any position on the DL.

Crawford is a $9.1MM cap hit this year and would save $8MM if cut.
I'd love to get a few JW Blues in Jerry and listen to him explain why they value Crawford that much.

Blackmail plain and simple. Clearly he had compromising photos of Jerry or he would’ve been cut years ago

He's not a starting player for us. Lawrence is the LDE, McCoy is better and likely the starter at the 3T, Woods is bigger and more able to hold up at the 1T spot and Crawford is not a RDE.

I don't think Crawford is a bad player by any stretch. He serves a purpose and is a capable backup. But that's all he is........... a backup. And when you watch this organization penny pinch the hell out of FA, it's strange that they seem content on letting a backup DL eat up nearly $10MM in cap space.

There are two starting caliber RDEs out there in Golden and Griffen. Clowney would be a third if you want to think big. We lack a starting RDE. Cut Crawford (Or even restructure and save 4-5MM in cap space) and bring one of them in. Crawford would not be hard to replace in FA as there are some backup caliber DTs out there.

the only one you need to know is the FO doesnt need our help to make decsions.. Your info is NOT NEW TO THEM.. I believe they have a reason for waiting on this decision..they could be in talks with him and they could be trying to have his replacements and waiting..who knows and really I found it ridiculous the fans somehow still feel the need to be experts and KNOW MORE

you do NOT!

they have space to work with and have time to make this move.. we are still 5months away for real football unless we dont have season..be happy we have FA and the upcoming draft as they could have just suspended all league operations until further notice..

In some ways I hope they restructure and get his cheaper but keep him since we no longer have Heath and Maher for you to while about.. god forbid..

What's starting a game have to do with it? By the end of the year, Gregory was logging 60% of the defensive snaps over the last 8 games or so. Crawford was logging around 75%. They both couldn't be playing DE at the same time.

He's not a great DE. If you think this team will be fine with Crawford starting at DE instead of bringing in a guy like Griffen, then so be it.

Space can be moved to the next year, so you cut or reduce his money severely so you can move that money to the next year where it will be used. And you telling us fans, that the cowboys don't need us to help them?!!! Obviously, they don't if mediocrity is what Ur shooting for. :). And to say fans don't know more, is rediculous, how did you determine that? Did you hand out a test? Many suggestions and ideas in here are spot on because when employed, they have worked out for the good of the team. Like the hiring of Bill Parcells! The firing of Jason Garrett should have been done years ago, and obviously the cowboys finally agreed with us FANS, AND THE OTHER TEAMS MUST HAVE TOO, because Garrett is no longer a head coach for any of them, not even asst. headcoach. Remember, Everson walls and downs walked off the street and started in the defensive backfield for the cowboys. There's example after example to show that ppl. can know what's the best course. You don't have to be a skydiver to know if Ur parachute doesn't open, you are going to die. :). You don't have to grow blueberries to know they taste good. :).

I'll say it again then...

It's not as if department A is in charge of cap space and department B is in charge of talent acquisition and one is keeping the other from signing more help.

There is absolutely NO reason to cut Crawford until they need the cap room.

The fact that it’s a TERRIBLE CONTRACT is reason enough. They’re already a year late and millions wasted in getting out of it.

Long way to go in the offseason.

Lots of depth type players left.

Plenty of cap room to be made when needed.

He can be useful at a lower cap number, and if that's what they want to do, they are playing it right.

This argument has exhausted itself already.

Though clearly not "exhausted" enough for you to stop commenting in the thread...
