I have done a few mocks and read a million mocks of who everyone else would take. But it occurred to me, what will Jerry do? So I ran a mock draft and selected who I think Jerry will take in the first 5 rounds. In every case I would do something different, but its Jerry's mock not mine.

1. K'Lavon Chaisson - DE. In my mock, Tua was on the board, as was Jedrick Wills, CJ Henderson, Epenesa and the two safeties. This was a tough choice because I can see Jerry taking the CB, Henderson too. He runs fast. But since the Cowboys are showing little interest so far in signing a DE to replace Quinn, I think he goes Chaisson. Jerry likes to draft DEs early too. Greg Ellis could babysit his kids! But I admit there is an equal chance he takes Henderson.

2. A.J. Terrell - CB. This will be the pick assuming he takes Chaisson in the first. If he takes Henderson at #17, he breaks my heart and picks Blacklock at 51.

3. Hunter Bryant - TE. This one is easy. Jerry is going to draft another TE early. I just know it. You know it too, you just won't allow yourself to believe it. But its coming. Gird your loins.

4. Logan Wilson - LB. Why? Because its Jerry and Jerry likes to draft LBs. Doesn't Logan Wilson strike you as a guy Jerry would love to think about in the shower?

5. Julilan Blackmon - S. At first I penciled in Benito Jones here. But he plays DT so there is no chance uses his 1st 5th round pick on that position. He takes the safety instead because he can play special teams!

5. John Hightower - WR. He's from Boise St. and Jerry must draft at least one player from Boise state. And he can play special teams! He doesn't have to catch passes. He just needs to cover punts and kickoffs so they can make Devin Smith inactive every week.

Like I said, I would take zero of the guys on this list. But Jerry is a way better GM than me. He's been doing this for more than 25 years!

Stopped reading when you said Tua was still on the board. No way publicity loving Jerry passes on a splash pick like Tua. Absolutely no way.
The only way Tua falls to 17 is if the hip injury is career threatening. Jerrah would be all over that pick.:omg::eek::mad::facepalm:

You do when you have a franchise QB and you can trade down for a team wanting a QB like maybe NE or GB. Trade back to 23 and take Espenesa or one of the safeties and have another 3rd plus a 5th or 6th.

And should he. If Tua is on the board, the Cowboys need to take him. Dak and him can compete for the starting job. The best one gets it. If Dak can not beat out a rookie qb than he doesn’t deserve it. If Dak beats Tua for the job than he can sit for a year, get healthy and learn. It is win win situation for the Cowboys.

I would definately take Tua and see how Dak goes on the franchise tag. You get to see where you are at in 12 months time. Back to back QB’s on rookie contracts would put us in a hell of a salary cap position.

Jerry? I am sure Jerry spends hours studying players in his Highland Park film room, but he wouldn't know any of these guys if he fell over em.

Agree
If Tua is healthy and available at 17 and Dak hasn’t signed a long term deal then we would be total morons not to sign him

MM now has a say so on who we sign and draft, so no one can predict how they’ll draft this year.

If Tua is on the board we should pick him. If healthy he'd become our starter by the end of the season.

For better or worse, I think the plan at RDE is Gregory

IF Tua was available and that's a big IF, JJ & Co would be crazy for taking this kid because he can't stay healthy in the only college conference that compares to the NFL!

It used to be fun to have make fun of Jerry drafts, but the Manziel/Martin thing seems to have actually Bslapped him somewhat, and he has really behaved himself lately....

But come on...and Jerry by himself draft has to include potential jersey sales, so if Jeudy and Lamb were also gone...you have to go Ruggs round one.

BTW....what mock has Tua still on the board at 17??

Jerry would never actually TAKE him, because he thinks that buys him loyalty breaks in Dak negotiations (no it doesn't), but he should at least be able to swing a deal for someone trading up for him.

That is pretty good I am about ready to do my annual satirical "Jerry Jones Has Locked the Draft War Room Doors and Making All The Picks By Himself'...Basically my disaster scenario with humor......

I used the fanspeak simulator with the user voted team needs, and I think the NFL mock draft database. When the Cowboys were on the clock, Tua was sitting there at the top of the board. I didn;t believe it either. Obviously this was not a serious mock, I was a little levity in a time of lots of despair.

Corner in the 2nd makes little sense, at this point. They have 4 corners who are all the same quality of any rookie you'll get in the 2nd, and signed Goodwin for ST. They aren't going to dress more than that.

They might go corner in the first if they think they can get a #1, but there's no sense in drafting anything other than a development guy later on outside of that.

Remember, he passed on Johnny Manziel in 2014...

What I remember was he had Manziel's name on the card and wanted it handed to the Commissioner, but Stephen grabbed it out of his hand, and Stephen and McClay talked him off the ledge.
Then at midseason he was quoted as lamenting the fact the Cowboys didn't draft Johnny.

Hmm failing to address the biggest needs at CB & DT for a project DE..is a mess....
