17. Dallas Cowboys - CeeDee Lamb WR Oklahoma
The Cowboys don't have many glaring needs, although I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft a cornerback or safety (Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix appears to be a one-year flier). I'm going to stick to my board, though, and go with the best prospect available. Lamb, No. 12 in my latest rankings, shouldn't fall far; with fantastic route-running ability and big-play potential, he's capable of being a No. 1 receiver at the next level, and he could play outside or in the slot. Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and Lamb would instantly become one of the NFL's top wide receiver trios. Keep an eye on defensive end here, though, as Dallas could add young talent to that group.

If Chaisson gets within sniffing distance then we need to trade up,a RE is a cornerstone of a team and right now we dont have one.

Cannot be disappointed with that but it probably signals Gallup wint be back for a 2nd deal and I'm not sure I like that.

Right so 9 sacks in 3 years is enough lol...u obviously didnt watch him during the season ..he was a GHOST on a team where he saw 0 double teams ...not saying he cant become good. But w the #1 pick you dont want projects..you Need a starter...dont want Taco 2.0

i have already made my point on his production,if he had better stats he would be a top 5 pick with his athleticism.

I think Lamb is a top 15 talent so can’t complain about the pick.

But wow Mel is high on some of the WR’s...Mims and Claypool in the 1st? Crazier things have happened, but I have a hard time believing that. I think teams will be smart and wait on WR considering how deep the position is.

Winfield in the top 20 as the 1st safety off the board is also pretty surprising

In his scenario, Lamb is the last guy who would clearly be BPA so i couldn't argue with taking him.

The way the 16 picks before us are likely to fall, 17 is most likely to be a player we shouldn't really be comfortable to pick at that position. In other words, it screams a trade down. With Freddy's retirement, if they have thoughts of picking up another interior lineman it just makes moving back & accumulating picks that much more reasonable. I could see us trading down to late first or even out of the first and stockpiling a bunch of picks in the say 30-90 range and coming out with a nice haul.

FWIW, I am always a quality over quantity quy. I would use later round picks to move up if it helped me be comfortable that I get 4-5 guys that have a legit shot at making the roster & contributing than draft 8 guys & cut 6 of them at end of training camp. I can take my training camp chances on UDFA's, other teams castoff's, etc. and if i get lucky fantastic. But i want my draft picks to matter.

I got no problem with that. Kinlaw and Chaisson were off the board. So was Henderson. So at that point, Lamb should be the pick unless you go Kenneth Murray.

I like Lamb, and this is a very plausible scenario.

As much as I want this draft to be about defense (I wanted Coopers money spent there, so of course I want Kinlaw), but if not....I'm hoping Jeudy is the guy who falls.

I think we get a top 5 talent at 17 because of circumstance.

Its very possible Lamb is that guy though.

I'm starting to warm up to the idea of Murray being the pick at 17.

I knew Winfield would find his way into the first round.

He has Claypool there too now. Wow.

We could use for Love to go before 17 and push someone else down.

Either way I like our chances to land either Lamb or Jeudy, and that's a HR at 17.

Defense is going to be dreadful, but that's the price of listening to 0-16 Rod.

So in Mel's mind we are gonna be in a lot of 51 to 48 games? Those seasons always end well.

it's either Lamb...the best player on the board...Kenneth Murray or one of those DEs.
to lose out on Henderson or Chaisson and walk away with a talent like that....GREAT pick.

Murray is a safe pick....low floor, plus he plays defense.

Easy to see a guy like Chiasson being boom or bust.

Very tough to envision Lamb or Jeudy not being players in this league, although similar has happened.

If they draft someone like McKinney/Delpit/Fuller here, then I'm not buying they draft using BPA strategy...and I really hope they know better.

I want that pick to be defense badly, but you cant leave a top talent on the board because of position.

Besides, and this won't be popular, and is simply my opinion, but we will need another offensive option for those games when #19 decides he doesnt feel like playing.
