So our needs just increased by needing a C. figuring in that Poe is signed I believe our greatest needs are now;

1) RDE Hopefully Griffen on a 2 or 3 yr deal. No rookie is going to come in and have an impact
2) CB We need a guy to replace Byron plus we have 2 CB that will be FA next year. Draft at 17
3) S I would draft a S both starters this year are FA also next year. Draft and groom
4) C I dont know how deep this draft is or if we are content with Looney
5) LB Draft LVE hope he is healthy, Lee is on his last year. Need to fid his replacement.
6) WR Daft best possible slot guy we can.
7) LT I wouldnt be surprised if Tyron goes the Frederick route next year if his injuries continue.
8) TE Need another one with Jarwin. No one behind him to take his place receiving if he goes down
9) DT Need to draft the future at this position.

A large task in front of us that will be almost impossible to do in one year. We only have so many draft picks and you never hit on all of them. I believe if Looney could hold the line we need a DE such as Griffen and hope we hit on first 4 rounds with
1 CB (Henderson)
2 S (Winfield) (dugger) (Chin)
3 DT (Fotu)
4 WR (Proche)
Getting a guy like Griffen frees us up to have a nice draft if it fell this way.

Do you know how much Griffin is asking for?

Rd 1 will be CB

I think rd 2, 3 and 4 will be OL, DL and WR based on value

Defense can be mask with a good pass rush with average secondary play. There are still some solid S out there. The OL can survive but won't be as good as years past. If I'm the Cowboys I'll rack as many quality starting FA's left on the market.

I think the next 2 drafts are huge. The cowboys will be competitive next year but they are not a super bowl contender. If you look at their roster, they are probably bottom 10 in the league with talent on their rookie contracts. Gallup and LVE are their best rookie contract guys and LVE is a big injury risk. Poor drafting the last few years has hallowed out their young talent. I think they need around 5 starting quality players at least at Gallup level to have a chance to be a contender in 2021. You need to have young talent on relatively smaller contracts in today’s nfl. Having a top loaded roster has gotten us in the trouble in the past and we are heading right back to that problem.

so draft well and this team will be fine in time. Draft poorly, this may be a full rebuild sooner than we think.

I think we need 3 more solid contributors via free agency. That's going to be difficult. But, if we get that and have a solid draft... just maybe. We also need last year's draft picks to show significant progress.

Signing Griffin shouldn't change the approach to the draft.

I don’t think this changes anything drastically
Now you need a G/C swing guy
May already have options

Play 500 ball and sell a lot of jerseys. Same as it ever was.

Cover corners are expensive and so are edge rushers so if you can get them in the draft on rookie deals that would really help the salary cap. It would also be nice to get a DT that can collapse the pocket.

Corners
Okudah
Henderson
Johnson
Gladney
Diggs
Terrell

Edge
Young
Chaisson
Gros-Matos
Epenesa
Lewis

DT
Brown
Kinlaw
Blacklock
Elliot
Madbuike

point is, we don’t “need” to reach for DE in rd 1 if we think CB or WR or DT is a better value on our board
Yes. There are a number of guys with the traits to be good edge rushers that would benefit form sitting a year or getting some spot playing time that could be starters down the road.

Depending on when Fredrick officially retires we could have some additional cap space.
