I wish this team could make a trade and acquire a few more picks somehow.

We got a lot of positions to fill.
Im all for a trade down into the the mid 20's and pick up an additional pick. Im not too much into draft charts but yesterday on the fan Broaddus was discussing a trade down into mid to late 20's cant remember for sure but I think we picked at 26,41 and 51 and got a safety, DE, and corner i believe then they can grab a OL in the 3rd again. It doesnt have to be center but I have said all along I think the line is important as most all of our stars are dealing with something and that was before yesterdays announcement

Does he realize year 2 after the disease is typically better?

Only he knows how it felt, and how it continues to feel in his body. He probably doesn't want to be a medical case report on what happens to the brain when you continue to play on the line after being diagnosed with GBS. Sounds like he has a good idea of what to do with his time after playing, including being an active father and community member.

I can't question the logic.

All of a sudden the re-signing of both Joe Looney and Adam Redmond make sense. Though let's hope for Connor McGovern to show he can play.

Here’s an example of your typical fan these days. Don’t care about anything other than their own existence.
Let me take a shot at this...I don't think its as much about not caring or having human compassion as it is about.

1. Great Player that filled a need and was a good leader that is gone in his prime.

2. A player that has hindered 11mill from the 2020 cap that is very important to be competitive.

3. Even with recourses this position is hard to replace. (We need all "D" in this draft)

best wishes to the Beard but i'm somewhat bumbled as well.

i wonder if he continues to improve in the offseason if there is a chance he might come back....the fact that we are getting hit by 11 mil for a retiring player kills me, such a dumb rule that needs to be changed.

I think that makes it official that this Oline's best year was the year Dez dropped the endzone catch. It's never reached that level again. Maybe Zeke's rookie year was close.

Not really true....
2018 DAL O Line (Frederick missed entire yr):

31.6% pressure rate allowed (24th in NFL)

56 sacks allowed (31st)

2019 DAL O Line (Frederick played all 16)

21.1% pressure rate allowed (2nd best)

23 sacks allowed (2nd fewest)

5 guys make up a line of course but this is a big loss.

ALSO: With Frederick on field, in Zeke's career he scored once every 25.4 carries. W/out Frederick, Zeke scores once every 50.7 carries. In close: 21.8% of Zeke's red zone carries score. W/out Frederick, just 12.8% of Zeke's RZ carries score. Again, he's just 1 of 5 guys but...

Wow. This is a reminder that the O-Line with Loony in 2018 was not "fine".. it was far from fine, it was just about the worst pass blocking OL in the NFL that year.

meh, just because everyone gets the same thing doesnt mean its a fair way to look at the rule....being fair and being fairly enforced are two different things in my opinion.

Also, i don't wish him well....i wish him better! and to reconsider retirement. Heres hoping for a miracle return for the big guy

Never seen a player retire and resend it that quickly. maybe in a year or two. However by then he would be 32 or33 :(

Your right, Zack Martin went down and Tyron Smith missed time. Looney played very good but you had 3 OL players down and Looney was not going to fix that.

Those are some stark numbers.

Teams usually don't spend big on centers either in terms of high draft picks or $$$, but they really are the linchpin of the entire line, and when you have a scrub center things get real stupid real fast.
Agree but his loss is huge and hard to argue with based on the "stats".

Yes he was clearly the glue and central point of the entire unit. Major loss not just for Dak but Zeke as well.

Just remember.

2018 Starting lineup :

LT - Tyron Smith (13 games) Cameron Fleming (3 games)
LG - Connor Williams (10 games) Xavier Sua-Filo (6 games)
C - Joe Looney (16 games)
RG - Zack Martin (14 games) Xavier Sua-Filo (2 games)
RT - La'El Collins (16 games)

A lot of missing pieces. Keep in mine Looney had a different LG and RG for some of those games. Losing Martin for ANY time was huge to this line.
